Copy of email being sent out:

Hello,

I just read your e-mail regarding my apartment located in
I am the owner of the apartment. My name is Alessandro Sulipano from Italy/Rome. I bought the apartment while working in Ireland.
The apartment has 2 bedrooms, 1 bathroom, 1 kitchen. Is available for long-term, it's in excellent condition, very clean and fully furnished with all the necessary equipment and appliances.
The rent is 1250 Euro per month. A security bond of 1250 Euro is required at the start of the lease and it will be refunded at the end of the contract (a 30 day notice is required). The apartment is fully furnished, like in the pictures. If you have any question please let me know.

If further interested, please give me some information about yourself (age, job, lifestyle or whatever you think makes you a good tenant). I want only serious people with a healthy financial situation. So could you please email me something that shows you are financially stable... anything you want that shows you're in a good financial situation.

Please see the apartment pictures attached.

Thank you and I look forward to hearing back from you

Hello,

I moved to Ireland in 2015 and since then I moved 3 times. Rental market is a cut throat here, especially in Dublin and many landlords and letting companies pray on the people and their need for roof over their heads. The prices are atrociously high for literally holes in the walls and they even hold auctions for the properties.

They demand more information from tenants, which is mostly of personal nature than as if you would be applying for a job in secret service. I for one avoid any property that demands my bank statement. It is nobodies business how much money I have on my account, if they are not happy with my landlord references, I simply walk away.

One has to be very lucky to find a nice place, for reasonable price and good landlord. I was lucky so far, which brings me to Alessandro Sulipano and "his property" in Dublin "Maywood road, Raheny, Dublin 5"

This was the first email after I sent him an email, showing interest in his property:

I replied and answered his questions. Then I received this email, which sent red flags:

Hello,

Thank you for your quick reply.
At this moment I'm in Italy and can not be present to deal face to face. I come to Ireland every 6 months for 3 or 4 days and if you rent the apartment i will stay to a hotel.
I can make arrangements to rent the apartment through Airbnb ( airbnb.com ) which is an international company dealing specifically in rentals apartments, I used it in the past and I was very pleased for their services.

I would suggest to open the Airbnb website and read what methods of payment does Airbnb to better understand the process.

https://www.airbnb.com/help/article/126 ... ?topic=222

Airbnb will ask you to make the payment for the fist month of rent plus security deposit. They will hold and insure your money until you check the apartment and decide if you want to rent it or not. I don't have any access to the money until you view the apartment and sign the contract. I'm quite confident you will like the apartment, but if by any reason you would like to cancel the transaction or you don't like the apartment, Airbnb will refund your money. Airbnb requests payment for the first month of rent in advance to be sure that the client really has the intention of renting the property.

If you accept the Airbnb policy please provide me with the following details for your referencing application so that I can register the transaction with Airbnb and move forward.

Your phone number
Full name
The date you want to move in
How many people are going to live in my apartment
What term/length lease would you like

Once I have these details, I will proceed with the transaction and make all the arrangements with Airbnb. You will receive an invoice and further information regarding the rental, along with payment instructions to secure the booking. After you secure the booking, an inspection time will be settled and you will receive the keys so you can inspect the apartment and move in.

Regards,

Therefore I did a simple google search, which brought me to this site too. trying to scam me out of 2500 EURO of my hard earned money. I could not help myself, but I did reply. This is the email I sent:

Hi Alessandro,

Thank you for your prompt reply. We are very pleased that you want us as your tenants.

I do have few questions though.

Who would show us the apartment?

Why can't we view the apartment before I create the account on the site?

Why are you using the Airbnb instead of a real estate company in Dublin for the said renting of the apartment?

Why didn't you ask me to send you references and proof of employment?

When are you coming to Ireland? I would prefer to conduct business face to face, as we are not in any rush.

Kind Regards,

I will update this post when and if I get a reply.

My advice - avoid this person like the plague.

Hope this helps.

Dave

Airbnb have no involvement in this scam. The scammer is just using their name to appear legitimate.

Please do not tell scammers that they are listed here - it will take them seconds to change their fake details and their new details will not be listed for any future victims to find.
