I will like you to tell me about yourself because I am interested in knowing your capability of funding the rent and taking care of my apartment.

I suggested that to avoid unnecessary journeys and time wasting, if you are around we suggest you go to the apartment and have a look at the exterior surrounding and if you like the place and vicinity around the location then we can proceed further with the keys to your home address via UPS with 48hours delivery

Thanks you for the mail and your sincerity,i really understand how you feel sending payment before the keys was sent to you via UPS.I just want you to have it at the back of your mind that the deposit is highly Refundable back if you are not comfortable with the apartment after receiving the keys, because you sound septic from your email, and thats very wrong, if you are thinking that I just wanted to take your money for nothing. When I known how people worked and earn their money, I will never think of taking some advantages over you and your money, please take that out of your mind, that is really awful thing on the earth that I will never think about doing. Please understand me better, I was not trying to lure you into this, everything about me and my apartment are 100% real ok,

I have attached the copy of my ID to this mail just for you to be rest assured that everything is well okay and secure. The apartment is locked you can only have access to the unit after we send you the keys .

This person asks for a deposit payment via Western Union, MoneyGram, pre-paid credit card or bank transfer with a promise that you can have the keys to a property that does not belong to him.

Sounds safe. It's not!

At other times, he will ask for proof that you are able to pay the deposit and rent due to a string of time wasters.
This proof is in the form of a Western Union or MoneyGram payment to a lawyer,a friend or family member.

In either case, if payment is made and you give this person the details, they will collect the money.
You will not hear from them again.

All the details such as names, addresses, pictures etc. that the scammer uses in order to back up his story, are stolen from elsewhere.

If you are reading this because you are looking for property to rent, and you are in contact with this thief you are probably searching Craigslist, Gumtree or similar listing sites. If you receive any requests from 'Landlords' asking for some kind of payment before viewing, then it will also be a scam. Please forward the mail to me at the address in my signature line and I will investigate and list them if necessary.

I am currently in contact with this same person, I almost send him money for a deposit. How do I report this scam
