Hi there,

Just to know a bit more each other, I`ll describe myself in a few words :).
As you probably noticed, my name is Jonathan Moore and I have 50 years old, my profession is Consultant Ophthalmic Surgeon, specialising in ocular surface reconstruction, laser refractive surgery, cataract and other intra-ocular eye surgery. I`ve completed a medical degree from Queens University Belfast (QUB), trained in ophthalmology in the Department of Ophthalmology, Belfast before gaining a fellowship in Flinders hospital South Australia and then a PhD in Ophthalmology from QUB after spending a year in a research fellowship position in Harvard Medical School, Boston under the tutelage of Professor Tony Adamis and Professor Dimitri Azar. Since 2007 I`ve been in a consultant ophthalmology position in the Mater Hospital, Belfast Trust in UK.

About the apartment.
I bought this apartment for my daughter, but now she moved back to me in United Kingdom. She`ll not use the place any more, so you can rent it even for a long period of time. The minimum rent is one month. The apartment has 2 bedrooms, 85 m2,you can live there max 4-5 persons. You can also register your name with the apartment address.
The apartment is fully furnished but can be rent unfurnished if you want to bring your own furniture.
Last time when I wanted to rent it, no one showed up, so I lost time and money. Therefore, I decided to make the transaction through AirBnb Property Management (www.AirBnb.com) their website is main focused on short term rentals, but they also have an new service for long term rentals. I used AirBnb (for long term rentals) last month when I rented my apartment in London, United Kingdom and I can tell you that it was an great experience and the only way I`ll proceed renting my apartment is by using their service.

The first deposit I require is for the 1st month rent + 2 months security deposit = EUR 2,160 (the 2 months sec. deposit are refundable when you check out).

Using AirBnb involves three parties: me as owner/landlord, you as a potential tenant and AirBnb as a responsible third party authorized to handle this transaction. AirBnb works the same way as the escrow account on which you place the deposit when you rent an apartment. Of course, nobody can take that money until you`ll sign the lease agreement. With this procedure you`ll be able to check the apartment before I receive the payment.

I received the following email from a man who I now know had his identity stolen, "Jonathan Moore." The scammer sent me his passport and all personal information, as well as 40 emails over the course of the month. They were very convincing and I fell for the whole story and lost a lot of money when I paid what I thought was a security deposit. I'm posting the initial email in the hopes that this won't happen to someone else.

Hi all,

I've received the same email as you guys. I was looking for a property to rent and the response came from this guy (via the Craigslist website). Word for word the same text about him (lifted from the website of the real Jonathan Moore) and the property.

Something didn't seem to add up when he sent a very long-winded email saying that Airbnb would broker the cash but that certain timescales had to be adhered to.

Glad I found this thread before I proceeded!!!!
