I want you to understand that I spent a lot on my property that you have requested to rent, so I will solicit for your absolute maintenance of this apartment and would want you to treat it as your own because cleanliness they say is next to Godliness. It is not all about the money to be paid on rent or spent; it is all about a good maintenance culture which I want you to adopt on the property. I want you to keep it tidy all the time so that I would be full of smiles whenever I come and above all, a good, strong and tight relationship between us when I come for a check up. Please one more thing, I wouldn't like to have any benefit of trust in you because I want to stand in your words that the property would be well taken care of all the time. I believe you have seen how lovely it is if from only the pictures you saw in my posting compare to the 100% comfort to be derived from it as you are an occupant.

Glad to read back from you once again,you should understand that i am not around,i would have love to show you the interior through a friend or relatives but i don't have anybody that can do that for me at the moment.i am sure you have seen the interior pictures on Craigslist for you to have an idea how beautiful and spacious the inside looks.I tried to look for an agent that I could give the document & the keys before I left but i can't find any due to the matter of urgency so i have to take the key and documents along with me. And I don't want home misused in my absence that is why I took the keys and documents along with me.so as soon as the deposit payment has been confirmed via money gram .i will go to FED EX office in other to start the shipping arrangement of the package to your address which will take a day delivery,then get back to you with the shipment details.This would enable you view everything and when you are ready to move in you can make the first month rent.Thanks

This person asks for a deposit payment via Western Union, MoneyGram, pre-paid credit card or bank transfer with a promise that you can have the keys to a property that does not belong to him.

Sounds safe. It's not!

At other times, he will ask for proof that you are able to pay the deposit and rent due to a string of time wasters.
This proof is in the form of a Western Union or MoneyGram payment to a lawyer,a friend or family member.

In either case, if payment is made and you give this person the details, they will collect the money.
You will not hear from them again.

All the details such as names, addresses, pictures etc. that the scammer uses in order to back up his story, are stolen from elsewhere.

If you are reading this because you are looking for property to rent, and you are in contact with this thief you are probably searching Craigslist, Gumtree or similar listing sites. If you receive any requests from 'Landlords' asking for some kind of payment before viewing, then it will also be a scam. Please forward the mail to me at the address in my signature line and I will investigate and list them if necessary.
