From a popular listing website, contacted the alleged owner of a rental unit and this female named Hellen contacted me saying she has moved back to Spain. Please see emails below. I understand from this website itself that people from different parts of the world have encountered similar scams.

Email 1:

Hello,

Thank you for your interest.
My name is Hellen and I am the owner.
I moved in Spain with my husband and I need to rent the place because I will stay in Spain for a long period of time(5 years) maybe more.
Tell me a bit about yourself and where you are located now.
Will you be able to take good care of my place like your own?
I want to use a third party to handle the rent(http://www.airbnb.com) because i`m in Spain .This way we are both protected.Let me know if you are agree

Email 2 -

Before of all let me explain how it works:
The solution to view and rent the apartment is to meet with you because the keys is with me so I am ready to come.
You need to pay 2 months and security deposit 1000.

I want to use as a third party Airbnb.com(is the big website in the world)
1. I will start the transaction with airbnb.com
2. After registration, airbnb will contact you and send you the invoice together with all payment instructions;
3. Meanwhile you have 24 hours to confirm the payment to airbnb.
4. You must deposit the money in a bank account of airbnb.
5. After you confirm the payment, i will come to give you the flat.
6. airbnb keeps your money until you agree with the flat.
7. If you don't like the flat and don't want to rent it, you will receive all your money back immediately from airbnb..
Let me know if you are agree.
