apartment before i left the country for work, my apartment is still
available for rent for $490 per month and security deposit for $490
including the utilities like hydro,washer and security,it is fully
furnished. More so Now,I am currently living in London - UK and I will
be here for long that is why am looking for a clean and responsible
person to live in my apartment.Pls i want you to note that,i am a kind
and honest man and also i spent a lot on my property that i want to give
you for rent,so i will solicit for your absolute maintenance of this apartment
and want you to treat it as your own,is
that taken,I want you to keep it tidy all the time so that i will be
glad to see it neat when i come for a check up.I do that once in a
while.I want to have trust in you as i always stand by my words.Where

Thanks for the email, I own the Apartment, also want you to know that it
was due to my transfer that made me leave the apartment and also want to
give it out for rent and looking for a responsible person that can take
good care of the apartment, I am not after the money for the rent but want
it to be clean all the time So for now, I am in United Kingdom which i
just relocated to and also I am with the keys and documents of the
apartment,I tried to look for an agent that we can give this documents
before i left but i could not see and i don't want the apartment to be
used any how in my absence that is why i took the keys and documents along
with me here ,so i hope you will promise to take very good care of the
apartment,So get back to me on how you could take care of the apartment or
perhaps experience you have in renting a home,Hope you are okay with the
price per month with hydro,heat laundry facilities,air condition,
internet connection and so on

This person asks for a deposit payment via Western Union or MoneyGram with a promise that he will send the keys through a courier company.

Sounds safe. It's not!

At other times, he will ask for proof that you are able to pay the deposit and rent due to a string of time wasters.
This proof is in the form of a Western Union or MoneyGram payment to a friend or family member.

In either case, if payment is made and you give this person the details, they will collect the money.
You will not hear from them again.

If you are reading this because you are looking for property to rent, and you are in contact with this thief you are probably searching Craigslist, Gumtree or similar listing sites. If you receive any requests from 'Landlords' asking for some kind of payment before viewing, then it will also be a scam.
