Room for Rent and other rental scams

I have responded to several offers from postings on Craigslist. Wondering if any are legit? Most seem blatant, but if they accept PayPal, could it still be scam?
Appreciate if anyone can verify this one:

It's a scam otl and the website quoted is a fake which is recorded in the Artists Against 419 database of fake sites here

I'm beginning to despair of craigslist as all 25 ads under one heading I saw this morning were scams and since I've got back this evening, the situation has become worse.

It's up to craigslist. If they allow scammers to swamp their listings then it'll become safer to avoid them, but I'd prefer them to take proactive action to remove them. They aren't hard to spot, though may trap those who aren't familiar with the going market rate for apartment rentals in London.

All I can advie otl is that you be very very cautious and ask here if you have any doubts at all.

Some warners here actually go through with rental applications to check how the scam breaks down, but one group operating in the UK even have access to bank accounts to receive stolen money, so it's very difficult to be certain. There are some checks we can do, even checking if the bank account is one known to be used by scammers.

Non-EU citizens should go here to find out about obtaining a visa to work as an au pair in the UK

Whenever payment is requested by Western Union you're dealing with a scammer
