This person asks for proof that you are able to pay the deposit and rent due to a string of time wasters.
This proof is in the form of a Western Union or MoneyGram payment either to him, your friend or a family member.
Sounds safe. It's not!
At other times, this person asks for a deposit payment via Western Union or Moneygram with the promise that they will send the keys through a courier company.
In either case, if payment is made and you give this person the details, they will collect the money.
You will not hear from them again.
If you are reading this because you are looking for property to rent, and you are in contact with this thief you are probably searching Craigslist, Gumtree or similar listing sites. If you receive any requests from 'Landlords' asking for some kind of payment before viewing, then it will also be a scam. Please forward the mail to me at the address in my signature line and I will investigate and list them if necessary.

Afternoon,
The rentals of £500.00 is for a month and it's available on a long term if you wish, Its different from the refundable security deposit of £1000.00.
The seriousness of renting our property must be shown before I can come to London to show you around, That was why i took the pictures for you and the full flat details.
Over the years, I have a better and more secured means of payment which ALL my tenant had followed.
The truth is, there wont be any problem for me to come up in London to take you around our flat any time you are ready as distance is NO problem for us, But before that will be done I'll like to know how serious and capable you are about renting the flat, As I had a bitter experience recently in the hands of a so-called interested candidate who made me come up to London claiming he was interested.
I have resolved that anybody interested in my flat must show signs of seriousness by paying the refundable security deposit of £1000 before i travel up to the London for flat viewing and reserve the property for such person. I am stil trying to recover from this bitter experience because it was recent.
I do not need you to pay it to me so that it is safer and more secured for you. I only need to confirm that the funds has been sent because i would not be able to have access to it..
Do get back to me with the evidence that you have made the deposit by scanning a copy of the MoneyGram or Western Union which should be made via the post office(because it is secured and trusted) with the full transfer details or simply send the details via email just in case you do not have access to a scanner So that i can confirm that the deposit has been truly made by you.
I would given you my bank details but i had bitter experience before and my account was tampered with so i never gave it out again. I am not saying you should send it to me. You are safer that way so i do not see why you can't do this because i cannot pick it up as I am not the receiver.
This makes is safe and secure for all of us. Do not get worried about the transfer charges as i would personally refund that to you on meeting you.
I hope you do understand my candid and honest point. I am too old to chase after people money or rub my name in the mud because of money as vanity upon vanity..all is vanity.
I hope you understand and and would be very reasonable enough. Let me know so that we can proceed.
Kindest Regards,
Patricia and Paul Cole.
