Room for Rent and other rental scams
by anon2011 Sat Mar 19, 2011 3:47 pm
I am very embarrassed to share this, but he did it again. All necessary details below :

Matt Aaron is his new Alias, now operating out of Philadelphia, PA. He just posted an AD on Craigslist yesterday 3/18/11 in Hawaii. He used M Ron <[email protected]>.

He listed the Apartment rental as pet friendly (it is very difficult to find one here in honolulu). Our situation was desperate. First time using Craiglist too. In hindsight, I can not believe how naive & stupid we were to wire the money Western Union $850 (without speaking to him first).

Should have googled his email address before I wired the money (something I always usually do). The google search led me to this site. I know that there is nothing that can be done to track someone down, but I can warn other's for making the same mistake as ours.

The latest, trying to get me to send the other half. Have a picture of the couple too....

"We want you to know we're Christian couple and we can't rip off cos it's against our doctrine if that's what you're thinking, this is a private rent and there's nobody that have the keys to the apt that's why the apt is more secured, we're sending our picture to you for you to be rest assured and confident that you're dealing with humble fellows and don't even think about scamming because we never know it will went like this, we appreciate your faith in sending the initial payment but we'll want you to be rest assured about this"

Sorry for the inconveniences,

Matt and Renicha

Thank you Con Warner. I have learned a very valuable lesson. He is trying to send the other half now and is contacting me via email. I won't fall for it. I asked for a document of proof that he owned the unit and he send me something forged. I wonder if that is enough to try to catch this guy?
