Rental scammer - [email protected]

I think this person might can be same one with "[email protected]"
They use almost the same context.
I knew that "[email protected]" is scammer, so I stopped contact with this one.

Scammers often use a script they buy or get from their boss or group leader, so it is not uncommon to get the same script from more than one email address. Scammers also use multiple email addresses as you indicate. Looking at the IP may tell if it is the same scammer.

This person is definitely a scammer. I got all of the same emails as you did, except the apartment was in Manhattan Beach. She have me a story about how she is crippled and can't talk on the phone, and they cannot send the keys until they have payment via Western Union. They are Mary and John Jacobs and they say everything possible to make you believe they are good Christians that don't steal money. And their main story is that Johns job moved them to the UK and they love their apt so much that they wanted to keep it and rent it out. ANd supposedly they have no friends or family here that can show us the apt. So basically they want you to believe they lived here and yet know NO ONE or have no family here...so all their family moved with them? yeah right. Good job catching this scammer. her stories and "good christian faith" can make you feel bad but she's playing you.

I'm afraid to read this, I've just sent $1800 to John Jacobs.

Are you sure it's a real scam? Because Mary (his wife) gave me two former renter references and I called them to talk about the apartment... So if it's a scam, it's a HUGE network, involving at least 5 people, with — at least — to real phone numbers...

Any one had the same experience?

Sorry, but the one described above is definitely a scam. Sending money by Western Union in exchange for the keys is a sure sign of a scam. What do you mean by real phone numbers? 4470 ones aren't, as they are free and transfer calls to another phone anywhere in the world. So they are widely used by scammers pretending to be in the UK.
I don't know when you paid, but if you phone 1-800-448-1492 before the money has been picked up, you can stop it.

The money has been picked up. They gave me the phone of two formers renters (as they said), they are both located in the US. And one is in the very same city, Pasadena.

So, if it's a scam, I hope the numbers will help the police to do their job.

I have never heard of Scam Warners but guess what? I learned about you guys just in time,... I almost got caught out there, by the same suspects It was " Reverend Ray" this time in laguna Beach: A Missionary away on business in the U.K. renting a great place, super cheap rent, same letter and rental application!

I google mapped it and could se the address, but I don't even think the picture matched the google map pic. "Keep it tidy" same junk just got a call from my wife saying he sent the pictures of the place. I am so happy you guys exist!!! She fell in love with the place and I gotta break the news to her, She wanted to drive by the cottage on Saturday.

I'm going to send her this link and call her. it a shame craig's list is such a great place its a shame so many people are ruining it with scams. As a hardworking struggling artist money is too hard to come buy and too easy to work for, for people to trick people and take their money.

I Googled Olander and this site popped up I figured if he was a missionary their would be an article somewhere or a baptism... whatever.. but even if the change the name or the script its good to know there are people like you guys out here holding us down! It is possible the property is actually for rent. Scammers steal the details from real rental ads, then add a "too good to be true" price to trap victims.
