Later we decided to have the house rent out, we would have give the same agent this job also but the truth of the matter is that the agent would want to handle it professionally and the occupant may not be able to reason along with him later. If you notice, you will discover that the price we are offering is far below standard price, this is enough for you to know that we are not after the rental fee but the absolute care for the property.We will be serving for a long term and now our home is locked up now and presently we have found a new home here which we will be staying for a very long which might last 5 years in (Nigeria) and presently our lovely home is still available for rent for ($800)as first month rent and the Security Deposit payment which is (800)including the utilities like washer,dryer,fireplace,internet access and garage.



More so,Now that we on Retreat program over here.Please I want you to note that all we will want is a very honest and neat person,so i will solicit for your absolute understanding and maintenance of this home and want you to treat it as your own,i am with the keys and documents here with me which will be sent to any responsible and interested tenant through FedEx further more you have to undergo some processes before i could be willing and convince to let my home to any tenant. This person asks for a deposit payment via Western Union or MoneyGram with a promise that he will send the keys through a courier company.

Sounds safe. It's not!

At other times, he will ask for proof that you are able to pay the deposit and rent due to a string of time wasters.
This proof is in the form of a Western Union or MoneyGram payment to a friend or family member.

In either case, if payment is made and you give this person the details, they will collect the money.
You will not hear from them again.

If you are reading this because you are looking for property to rent, and you are in contact with this thief you are probably searching Craigslist, Gumtree or similar listing sites. If you receive any requests from 'Landlords' asking for some kind of payment before viewing, then it will also be a scam. This is the email i got from "Mr Bishop" from www.hotpads.com. This is a scam artist and thought while i was trying to do my research i would make it known that it hasn't stopped yet. Please be aware and dont fall for this! I was lucky i didn't pay anything out before i looked it up, when it read almost exactly the same...my heart sunk cause it was such a good offer, but as we all know...some things that are too good to be true, always are...

this was the follow up email i got from him begging me to trust him and work with him to rent the house.

I understand you perfectly and i also understand your concern but i want you to know something and it's true like the bible said"The truth and only the Truth shall set you free,thus says the lord of host"I'm telling you the truth now as a dedicated Christian is against my doctrine to rip people off their money which they labored so hard for, i did not leave my home all the way to West Africa to rip people off their money. I'm a human being like you and i have feelings like you do,i also believe that God is watching every step we take that is why i made the house so inexpensive because i believe everybody deserves a home both the rich and the poor so you don't have to be afraid because i know i can trust you that is why i'm giving you my house based on trust.
In the Bible God did said Never cheat on people so i don't have any right to cheat on you because i am a responsible and God fearing man, i am renting my house to you base on the trust i have in you because i always put you in prayer that God to help you out, My living God review to me that you are the right tenant to rent my house that is the most reason why i am doing all my possible best to make sure you receive the keys and documents. And in this life what goes around comes around which is what will happen to me if i rip off your money, believe me i will not want such thing to happen to me or my family. So i don't have any reason to lie to you knowing the consequences involved in it.

It is still a lie and a scam. It doesn't matter how many Bibles he swears on or how much faith he claims to have, he is a liar and a thief.

Your best course of action is to totally stop communicating with him. He will never admit to being a scammer and he will just keep "working you" to try to get some money out of you.

Please do not tell him he has been exposed here, just drop him like the rotten egg he is.

Scammers often use talk of religion to try to "prove" they are legitimate. They are not and the more they claim they are, the more they are lying. Just drop him.

New name, same scam. Sounded tgtbt so I looked up the address and found it was owned by someone else and was listed as a rental a few months ago for 3 times as much a price. Luckily I figured that out before any transaction took place. Is that how most of these scammers operate? using previously posted ads / addresses? is there any useful tools out there that will show a rental address and what it was previously rented at?
