Rental Scammer - London Vacation Apartment.org

I nearly rented a place from this site: http://www.londonvacationapartment.org, but luckily got suspicious just in time. They ask for 40% up front via bank transfer, you can't visit the apartments, the phone number can be rerouted to anywhere in the world, the english is dodgy, and the prices suspiciously low.

Watch out for this site. Here's the email I received:

We still have the Sloane Gardens, Chelsea, SW1W 8EA (One Bedroom) apartment

available for the requested period.

Below is the quotation

Rate Per Night: £40

Rate Per Week: £280

You requested for 4 weeks which is: £1120

40% deposit of the cost is: £448

Refundable security deposit: £200

Total deposit requested is : £648

PS: All utilities are included in the rental fee
PSS: The security deposit will be refunded on your departure if there
is no damage

BOOKING PROCEDURES

A) You will have to visit our website at
http://www.londonvacationapartment.org/id42.html to go
through our Terms and Conditions and acknowledge your acceptance

B) You will need to print out our BOOKING FORM, fill, sign and return
to us. We shall have that emailed to you.

C) You will have to request for Payment Invoice, this has to be within
48 hours from the time the BOOKING FORM is sent to you.

D) Making of Reservation Deposit to guarantee the availability of the
property. We accept payment through Bank Transfer if your arrival is
more than 7 days. If not an alternative payment method may be suggested.

E) After the confirmation of Reservation Deposit, BOOKING RECEIPT will
be sent to you to confirm your booking with us. Also all necessary
information as regard collection of keys and meeting point will be sent
over

Should in case you still have more information to ask us, please do let
us know in time in order to conclude the reservation before someone else
takes the apartment

I am glad to hear you found out they were scammers before it was too late. Thank you very much for posting the site here - it will alert others that do their research. Additionally, we will make sure that the website will get suspended soon.

You mention they wanted payment through a bank account - could you please post the mail in which you received the bank account here? We can make sure that it reaches the correct people and that it gets acted upon

The phone numbers are the same, and websites are already down.

Pay with credit card if advance payment is required. Western Union is always a no-no!

As are rates that are a half to a quarter of what one finds with other agents.

No need to post the details of sites that are already down Amsterdam but thanks anyway.
