Today, I contacted someone who probably is a rental scammer. His name is Marcus Bolton Kelly, e-mailadress: [email protected] , ip adress 82.128.80.187 from Lagos, Nigeria.
I responded to his ad at craigslist.org, where he offers a EUR500 A lovely and cosy apartment in Central Paris (Paris).
He sent me pictures of the appartment which were so beautiful that I didn't believe him. I haven't found his name or e-mailadress via google, but I also googled the text of the e-mail he sent me and found exactly the same text here http://www.englishforum.ch/housing-gene ... ng-11.html , in this case he offers an apartment in Zurich and he used another e-mailadress and name (but same surname), but they are probably the same person.
This is the text he sent me:

Thanks for the mail, i am so happy to let you know that the apartment is still very much available for rent.Here are some important information about the apartment.
It actually has two bedrooms but i am locking one because i am keeping my personal effects there .The bedroom i am letting out is the main which has a large double bed (and could still take another folding bed comfortably if needed) and the second bedroom is mine .
The bedroom has a large wardrobe for storage and its size is 91 m² / 980 ft².
The bathroom is also new and modern, having a bath/shower, toilet and hand washing basin.The kitchen is fully equipped with a fridge, freezer, electric hob, oven, microwave, toaster, kettle, extractor hood and a washing machine. The dining table accommodates 6 persons.The living area has an L-shaped 6 seater sofa bed, opening up into a double bed. There is a 34" LCD TV, DVD and cable TV. All rooms are air-conditioned (cooling and heating). All furniture is new, modern and minimal.
The area is ideally located for safety, walking distance to shopping malls ,restaurants and cinemas . The address of the apartment is11 rue Ambroise Paré, Paris ,75010, France and its very close Gare Du Nord .
The apartment cost 500EURper month including all bills such as,washing machine, water, electricity, gas,internet e.t.c plus 600EUR for security deposit payment which is refundable while packing without any lost or damage of my properties.

I am right now in the United Kingdom i am currently contracted as an onsite engineer at the National Physical Laboratory at Teddington and i will be here for 2 years .

The things he wrote sound quite believable if you'd ask me, but luckily I am not easily convinced
I find it so frustrating that these things happen so often and that there is so little to do about it
