This person asks for a deposit payment via Western Union or MoneyGram with a promise that he will send the keys through a courier company.

Sounds safe. It's not!

At other times, he will ask for proof that you are able to pay the deposit and rent due to a string of time wasters.
This proof is in the form of a Western Union or MoneyGram payment to a friend or family member.

In either case, if payment is made and you give this person the details, they will collect the money.
You will not hear from them again.

If you are reading this because you are looking for property to rent, and you are in contact with this thief you are probably searching Craigslist, Gumtree or similar listing sites. If you receive any requests from 'Landlords' asking for some kind of payment before viewing, then it will also be a scam. Please forward the mail to me at the address in my signature line and I will investigate and list them if necessary.

The room is available for short or long term and the building is in a great location situated in the quiet and safe area and offers secure access. internet, cable, laundry in-suite, storage facilities, heat, water, electric and parking is included in the rent and pet are allowed. I will just let you know that you can't view the interior, i would have love to show you the interior through a friend or relatives but i don't have anybody that can do that for me at the moment. Its a 2 bedroom, you will have your own private room and i will reside in the other room when i get back.

I tried to look for an agent that I could give the document & the keys before I left but could not find any as a matter of urgency. And I don't want home misused in my absence that is why I took the keys and documents along with me. So I hope you will promise me to take very good care of the room always.

I got the information and I'm pleading you not to forget your promise in taking good care of the place for me because that this the main reason why I'm renting it out. I've contacted the shipping company to registered the package for shipping. The shipping agent said the package will leave today if the package is schedule for shipment on time, so I want you to go and send the payment today so that the package can be ship today also. I already issued a rent receipts and deposit with your information. Also in the attachment you'd find a recent picture of me. I wish you all the best and good fortunes as you move into my apartment.
