I'm sorry to read that you were a victim. Unfortunately these thieves are very convincing.
Could you please post the initial email from the scammer. It might just help somebody.

first I received an email as I had my ad on gumtree.com that said me If I was interestet to email back then I receive this:
the sender is melissa van schoorisse, I also find the real one that goes to the police to report her stole identity.

I feel so stupid, I usually make attention but this time I pay no attention so I lost my deposit
I call the UK police that told me to contact the Italian Police as I m Italian, I went to the police but I'll not have my money back

They use a false ID with identity of real people. I hope this will help to investigate If they will do it, because Italian Police don't investigate for "little" amount, but as I m a student for me it's too bad.

It s a shame!
