This person asks for a deposit payment via Western Union or MoneyGram with a promise that he will send the keys through a courier company.

Sounds safe. It's not!

At other times, he will ask for proof that you are able to pay the deposit and rent due to a string of time wasters.
This proof is in the form of a Western Union or MoneyGram payment to a friend or family member.

In either case, if payment is made and you give this person the details, they will collect the money.
You will not hear from them again.

If you are reading this because you are looking for property to rent, and you are in contact with this thief you are probably searching Craigslist, Gumtree or similar listing sites. If you receive any requests from 'Landlords' asking for some kind of payment before viewing, then it will also be a scam. Please forward the mail to me at the address in my signature line and I will investigate and list them if necessary.

So as i shall be giving you my property and you can move in when you are ready,pls again take care of the property so that i might be glad when coming to visits you but not too soon,also the rent include all the utilities such as heat,cable,tv,phone,internet,washing and drying machine.

However, if you are ready to rent the property now, then that will not be a problem but i will advice you due to a responsible like you, to be able to afford the month rent and the security deposit .Also i would like to send the following document to you via the DHL to the address you send to me and the tracking number will be sent to you so that you can possible occupy my property,Pls once again,i am giving you this on trust and do not disappoint me and i promise you that,you will love the property..Also the months rent will be send to me here in London United Kingdom through Western Union Money Transfer outlet.

And i never had any in tension of renting it out. It was just my wife who suggested i should lease the apartment, since i am always worried about the maintenance of the inside as there is no one presently there to monitor it.Also i will like you to know that the rent charges is not really the issue , but your absolute maintenance of the apartment, because that is the only valuable property i have in my life, and it also took me so much time and money to put all those facilities in place, so i wouldn’t want an violation of my property if finally rented by you. Let me know what to you feel at this point, as there are other inquiries coming in, I will like you to get back to me with your final decision after viewing the interior pictures and let me know if you are interested in proceeding with the payment.
