Room for Rent and other rental scams

Hi,

Continuing with my search of an apartment in London I found this website http://www.shortlet-london.com/ has similar suspicious characteristics to the one of London Kensington Suites, but also some differences (they open on Saturdays, they accept credit cards, they accept pay-pal. I read other post and you analized the site, but didn't come up with a concluding conclusion. Do you have any update of this website?

Thanks.

It certainly isn't a scam like the others I've commented on adversley txelugp.

Feedback from the Trip Advisor website doesn't help very much as you'd expect to be able to find evidence of other people's experiences from a company that has existed for any length of time but feedback is sparse and unhelpful.

All I can advise is that you are cautious and try to obtain independent feedback from a reliable source.

Sorry I can't be more specific but there are so many scammers operating just now in the apartment rental sector that we cannot give guidance where there isn't definite evidence. In this instance I cannot guide you one way or the other.

Whenever payment is requested by Western Union you're dealing with a scammer

This is not scam, but

Greediness is unbelievable. Did not repair the washing machine for 2 weeks. When I mentioned that to the guy he said: "This is London life". Took two weeks to refund the deposit, though I called them almost every day. Initially said 5 business days.
Finally, charged me for internet and the heating (during the summer!) from deposit, though in the quote they did not put this, just added £5 extra to each day.

So, initially looks fine, but then try to get as much money from you as possible.

Dear experimenter (removed - dotti),
thank you very much for your comments. Following your feedback we would like to clarify, that you had been charged £1.00 per day for using Wi-Fi (as per our agreement) and £3.50 per week for the electricity (as per our agreement). We did not charge any of our customers for the heating. Sorry, it's probably some misunderstanding.
We were happy with you as a customer and you are very welcome back!
Best regards, http://www.shortlet-london.com team
