Room for Rent and other rental scams

Hi everybody. Looking for an apartment, ran into a scammer, tried another, I'm pretty sure this is a scammer as well. The e-mail address is [email protected]. Here is the e-mail I got after my first e-mail:

RE: 411 North River Road, Ottawa, K1L0A5 Apt.

Hi,
Thanks for taking the time to look at my property. I can keep the apartment available until July only if I receive the first deposit before. My name is Koby Cardell and I`m a surgeon of the London Bridge Hospital where I was recently transferred. I'll stay here the next 3-4 years, so this is the reason why I want to rent the apartment. Previously, I lived in this apartment with the rest of my family (my wife and our two wonderful children, Michael and Alice) and we moved to London 2 months ago, when I received the wonderful news that I was accepted to London Bridge Hospital. I really want to find a good and responsible tenant and I hope that you can send me some personal information about yourself. Nobody lives there for the moment, so you will have two options:

1) $450/month for 1 bedroom, 1 bathroom and the car parking if you need.
2) $850/month for the whole apartment.

I'm the owner of the apt and it looks exactly like in the pictures (http://s1125.photobucket.com/albums/l591/unitphotos). It is fully furnished but I have a storage unit where you can deposit my furniture if you want to bring your own things. The rent includes all utilities (water, electricity, gas, internet, cable, parking) and the minimum contract is for 2 months. Also, the security deposit is $1500 (it will be registered along with a refund condition, so you will receive the $1500 back when you leave the apartment or you can use it to pay your last weeks of rent) and I want to receive the monthly rent in my bank account.

As long as I have the keys with me and I have nobody in Toronto that could show you the apartment...in order to check it, see if you like it, you need to receive the keys and the contract. Now please tell me something about you, let me know if you need a single room or the whole apartment and then I will explain you how the payment and shipping will take place!

Regards,
Dr. Koby Cardell

Notice that he said that there was nobody in TORONTO to show me, when the listing is for Ottawa.

Thanks.

The English alone tells me that it's 100% scam. The scenario, too, is typical, as are the scammer's "explanations."

In reality, a professional traveling across the world for a job would have set up an agent to handle his home--he would not just have walked away with the only keys in his possession. Even if he didn't plan to rent it out, he would have someone who could check on it and handle emergencies.
