Hello,
The rent will take effect the day you start to reside in the apartment. You will be paying for the 1st month rent and the security deposit to me afterwards i will be sending you the following document via DHL to the address you provided to me and as soon as the package is been shipped i will forward to you the tracking number, it will take two days to get the package to you.

Here are the contents of the package.

1)Entrance and the rooms Keys
2)Paper/Permanent house form (Containing your details as earlier supplied to me)
3)Payment Receipt
4)Signed rent form

You are going to send the 1st month payment of $600 and the security deposit of $300 to me in London. Since am not in Canada and you want to view the place i suggest that you send half of the payment $450 to me so that i can get the package containing the keys sent to you and once you get into the apartment which is as it looks in the photograph you and have check out the place, you will then get back to me if you decides to rent the place which means you will then be wiring the balance $450 to me and if you decides not to rent i will get your $450 sent back to you and you will in turn send my keys back to me, so get back to me asap so that i can send the payment details which you will be using to send the payment via western union money transfer to you

Hope to read from you asap

The thief will tell you that you can rent his accommodation only if you can prove that you have genuine interest. He will ask you send money by wire transfer (normally Western Union) to yourself or a member of the family to show that you have sufficient finances and that you are not a "time waster".

Another variation of this scam is that you need to send money (again via Western Union) in order that the keys and other documents can be couriered to you

He will ask you to send him the transfer details.

Make no mistake ! Western Union Transfers can be picked up virtually anywhere in the world and with the minimum of identification. They are almost impossible to trace once the money has been collected. You will never get to see the accommodation or your money again.

If you are reading this because you are looking for property to rent, and you are in contact with this thief you are probably searching Gumtree or similar listing sites. If you receive any requests from 'Landlords' asking for some kind of payment by Western Union before viewing, then it will also be a scam. Please forward the mail to me at the address in my signature line and I will investigate and list them if necessary.
