This person asks for proof that you are able to pay the deposit and rent due to a string of time wasters.
This proof is in the form of a Western Union or MoneyGram payment either to him, your friend or a family member.

Sounds safe. It's not!

At other times, this person asks for a deposit payment via Western Union or Moneygram with the promise that they will send the keys through a courier company.

In either case, if payment is made and you give this person the details, they will collect the money.
You will not hear from them again.

If you are reading this because you are looking for property to rent, and you are in contact with this thief you are probably searching Craigslist, Gumtree or similar listing sites. If you receive any requests from 'Landlords' asking for some kind of payment before viewing, then it will also be a scam. Please forward the mail to me at the address in my signature line and I will investigate and list them if necessary.

It has been observed that some intended tenants do not have the money to pay the rent and yet they keep disturbing the the landlord to arrange a viewing or rather retain accommodation for them thereby eventually end up wasting the landlords time.
Therefore,effort has been made by the landlord and residence owners that a willing and serious tenants should be able to make transfer of the security deposit and at least 1 month rent to a friend or relative name after which a confirmation will be made on the transfer done by Solicitor to check if he or she is capable of paying the rent before arranging for a viewing or to retain the flat till your arrival/viewing and also stop other people from viewing the flat.
This is a procedure adopted by the Landlord and residence owners due to bad experiences over time with tenants clients.In this develop,We've been warned not to take a bank statement or personal information from anyone there is also a fine attracted if we don't go through the rules and regulations.
A scanned copy of the receipt of payment via western union or money gram must be forwarded to me on which confirmation will be made by my solicitor and there after then we proceed to schedule the viewing at your convenience.That means you have not payed for the lease as you will be picking up your fund back through your friend/relative as the case may be after my solicitor has confirmed your transfer, you will only be paying and signing the lease if you are satisfied with the viewing.This is very important and necessary to help landlords take the right decision and to ascertain the intended tenants financial capability of paying the rent.
