Hey there ok I'm acutally quite sure that thats a scam but I just wanna make sure
I was looking for an apartment in Perth and then I got this email from Alison Ansley

I own a 2 Bedroom apartment....and am renting the entire flat out!!!!

The apartment located in 22 Mount Street , Perth , Western Australia 6000 Australia

The bedroom is approximately 18m2 (very large) with 13ft ceilings and polished wooden floor boards, it also features a set of french doors leading into the front court yard. (court yard & back yard currently being renovated)The room is furnished with Queen Bed, TV, Heater, Ceiling fan Desk/Chair, Clothes rack, linen etc... and has access to wireless internet connection.

The rent is Affordable price at 600aud per Month... includes all utility bills and cost. Nothing more to pay....and 650aud for the security deposit for the reservation of the apartment till your arrival date.

First to see will want to rent in this lovely apartment in very nice surroundings.

Let me know if you are interested Asap so that i can book your reservation.

Cheers

I live in Germany atm and asked if a friend who's living in Perth right now could check it out and got this reply then

Good to read back from you and thank you for your much interest in my flat..regarding to your question, there is no gonna be any other costs then rent of 600AUD per month and bond of 650 AUD..it's 600AUD per month including all the bills and utilities no any other cost and bond of 650 AUD...you will need to only the bond of 650aud for the reservation!!!

I understand your point that you need to see my flat before you proceed to make any payment or show any commitment.

As for the viewing, It's quite unfortunate that we can't meet this week cos presently i am in Leeds for a conference Which would last for two weeks. If you are really interested in the apartment and you want to proceed, i can have it reserved for you cos i think we are going to get along as knowing each other better. In past times,i had a lots of people contact me about the apartment and end up not turning up, and this really gives me problem because it makes me keep other people asking for the apartment waiting and some of them end up loosing interest for late response.

So i will advice you at this point that you should book down the room in form of reservation.

Let me know your intention so i can tell you how to go about it.

but do not worry cos the pictures i sent to you is exactly how the flat inside look like!!!

But do not worry because i have all the necessary details, lease document including the keys of the flat with me here.Let me know if you are interested before we proceed....

NB:i will like to use this opportunity to inform you that the key and other necessary document is with me here...as soon as you are ready to make the fully reservation and after your reservation has confirm,i will send the key and the payment receipt to you via DHL and it will deliver the same day or latest following day! cos you will come with it and move in to my flat!!!and i will meet you the following week after you have arrive into my apartment!

But unfortunatelly I didnt know bout apartment scams so I send her my details and also the address of my boyfriend so I'm a bit worried now if she can use them now for whatever there doing in whatever country they are
Can anybody help?????

Hi Kathi, yes it is a scam, so your instincts were right.

They don't have a lot of use for your details, you may get more scam mail if they sell your address to other scammers, but in general, there is nothing to worry about.

They are more concerned with people who do reply and look as if they will fall for the scam.

The writting style and English is most certainly not Australian. This is 100% a scam as Tom said.

Can you please post the scammers email address? Others who are skeptical as you were may search his details and find this thread. This will help them avoid this scam.

I'm glad your suspicions brought you here!

thank u guys!!
thats the email address [email protected]

Also got another one today..guess thats a scammer aswell

Hello Kathi,

Thanks for your response. Yes, still available. I am only looking for someone who's tidy and clean so as to be able to maintain my apartment. I am presently in the UK (London) but that won't deprive me for letting my house to you. I came here to stay with my husband after gotting married to spend some months with him.

More so, I have already make all the necessary arrangement for the documents and the payment if i see anybody that is really very serious of renting and in which I would give you reference number to the FedEx office, where you would get the keys to my apartment, because without the reference number, nobody can get the keys. I would like you to make reservation for the room, so that you can have a place to arrive at, the processes are not much, you only need to sign a document, then you need to have some documents to yourself as proof of assurance, then we proceed to the payment level. I would be willing to make available a scanned copy of my driver's license, international passport and my certificate of occupancy for your own record.

Get back to me with your details below so as to prepare your Lease Agreement:-

Your Full name:
Present Contact address:
Your phone number:
Date of birth:
Move in date:
Your intended duration of stay:

Waiting to read from you.

Regards,
Peta

Welcome to Scamwarners.
We are trying to scam her/him now.

I hope you don't mean you are trying to get money out of him, as that's illegall. Wasting his time by playing the part of a victim (scambaiting) is OK. Most of the "staff" here do it, but it has to be done safely, using email accounts create specially created for the purpose.
Our sister site www.419eater.com dealswith the subject.

No worries, we just let him/her run to the Western Union a few times. And we have SPAM Email Account for stuff like that.

Hi there !

I was emailed by the same lady but stupidly transferred money to her !!
I have made contact with the organisAtion I used so we are going to hopefully track her down and get the money !
Peta mcpharlane is a scAmmer ! I don't want this to happen to anyone else !
I had never come across scammers before ! But now I know to watch and never transfer money to someone you don't know , as convincing as they seem ! Stupid mistake !
Let's stop her ( whoever she or he may be ) from doing this

Welcome to Scamwarners. I'm sorry to hear you have lost money, but can't hold out any hope of you getting your money back if sent by Western Union or Moneygram. Once picked up by the scammer, it's gone for good. Sorry.

I got the same scam when looked for a flat in Tarifa, Spain. Exactly the same text.
She sent me an agreement and it looked well. Until I put her e-mail into google for search.
Thanks for this site! It saved my money.

Welcome!

I know it's a bit more work, but can you post the actual text of the emails they sent you? Scammers often reuse scripted emails even after they change names and addresses, and searching the text of the emails themselves can help additional victims to understand they are being scammed.
