This person asks for proof that you are able to pay the deposit and rent due to a string of time wasters.
This proof is in the form of a Western Union or MoneyGram payment either to him, your friend or a family member.

Sounds safe. It's not!

At other times, this person asks for a deposit payment via Western Union or Moneygram with the promise that they will send the keys through a courier company.

In either case, if payment is made and you give this person the details, they will collect the money.
You will not hear from them again.

If you are reading this because you are looking for property to rent, and you are in contact with this thief you are probably searching Craigslist, Gumtree or similar listing sites. If you receive any requests from 'Landlords' asking for some kind of payment before viewing, then it will also be a scam. Please forward the mail to me at the address in my signature line and I will investigate and list them if necessary.

I am writing to inform you that my wife have selected you as our #1 candidate which has made you our potential tenant that we are renting our unit to.

Which mean I will have to fly down from Wisconsin to meet with you in NY....Before I come down I would like to know if you are ready and have the total of 1 month rent and security deposit? because I had traveled all the way to being disappointment by a renter previously where the renter had issues with his pay check therefore causing me a wasted time, air fare and other expenses. So, I'm not ready to go through same experience again.

If I will Fly down on my own expense using my return ticket fly down to meet with you in person to finalize the deal , that will be only IF YOU CAN PROVE TO US THAT YOU HAVE THE FUNDS FOR 1 MONTHS RENT AND A SECURITY DEPOSIT?(definitely not by sending us money)

I will be waiting to hear back from you to see what we can work out.

Regards
Michael Reed
