Subject: Re: Referral for your listing at 147 Rivera Ct

Dear Prospective Tenant,

How are you today? My name is Brandon , Owner of the property at (147 Rivera Court, Chula Vista CA 91911) Property is available for move in for $1,200 for the months rent and $1,200 for the security deposit (Refundable After Lease period , As long as there are no damages on property after inspection) . For immediate move in you would be required to make total payment of $2,400.

Also i would need %100 percent assurance that the house would be taken good care of as am not present in the states. Due to a job transfer to the uk and do not have a local rep due to some ugly experiences in the past so please you full honesty and co-operation would be needed if you are willing to rent from me.

Pictures of the interiors can be emailed to you if need be for you to confirm the interiors of the property. So if you are interested to work with me, I would attach the rental application form which you are to fill and send a scanned copy back to me if am ok with your application then we can proceed with payment and signing of the lease agreement and you can move in when ready. As regards maintenance's anything thats needs repair can be handled by you and whatever you spend would be deducted from the next month rent.

2 Bathrooms

Pets: Dogs Cats (200 pet deposit)

Thanks
Regards.

This person asks for a deposit payment via Western Union or MoneyGram with a promise that he will send the keys through a courier company.

Sounds safe. It's not!

At other times, he will ask for proof that you are able to pay the deposit and rent due to a string of time wasters.
This proof is in the form of a Western Union or MoneyGram payment to a lawyer,a friend or family member.

In either case, if payment is made and you give this person the details, they will collect the money.
You will not hear from them again.

If you are reading this because you are looking for property to rent, and you are in contact with this thief you are probably searching Craigslist, Gumtree or similar listing sites. If you receive any requests from 'Landlords' asking for some kind of payment before viewing, then it will also be a scam. Please forward the mail to me at the address in my signature line and I will investigate and list them if necessary.
