Repeat of similar email scam, but with new names:

because of the recent tax policies on private practice here in England
as a result of the Economic melt down. We will be into private

Be informed, that i have decided to rent this unit for a period of
24months as i will be buying a home after the duration of this lease.

There is a real person with that name - of course, he is innocent. He has got a different email address. The scammer is using his details to make his trick more believable.

The reference to a bank account is unusual, but is part of the scam.

The phone numbers mentioned in the email are re-direct numbers, they are not genuine UK numbers. Like all numbers beginning with (+44) 70 ........ they will lead on your call to anywhere in the world.

So he sent you a counterfeit cheque, and I bet the amount was higher than the one he is supposed to pay, and he wants you to send part of the money back to him?

In most countries, the possession of fake cheques is a criminal offense. Now your options are
- bring the cheque to the police
- destroy it thoroughly
- take a permanent marker and write "FAKE" onto the cheque, and show it to friends to warn them about internet fraud.

You need to stop communicating with this criminal now. If he doesn't go away, you can consider telling him that your bank said the cheque is counterfeit. That should stop him for good.

I am a rental property manager in Canada and I got this one. Thanks to this site, I knew right away it was a scam.

Thank you very much for posting this - I have been dealing with this called Dr. Parwez through e-mails in the past couple of days and I even spoke over the phone today Sat 17th with his representative in Canada, the called Mr. Gate. Mr. Gate is right now Toronto, arriving in Vancouver on Friday Sep 23rd to see the apartment I am renting and possibly close the deal. Since Mr. Gate has a accent; I think from Nigeria, I had a impression something was fishy. I am glad I read this posting to confirm.

Ditto for me! SOB replied verbatum and I just received the $21,500 check in the mail today. Bank of Montreal couldn't certify the check & Great West Life had no idea about the check. Please keep posting scams so we can all help eachother stay safe! Here's my correspondance:

I Google some of the phone numbers and names mentioned in the above email and i came to this blog. I believe this is a scam but in the odd chance that this guy was for real then he wouldn't mine printing his offer email and sign and date and scan it back to me with verification of identity. so i responded with the below email:

I week goes by and he writes back with the below email (yesturday):

Am i right in thinking this is a scam? what should i do, stop corresponding with is individual? Go to the RCMP but i believe they can't do anything since he is not from here.

Welcome to Scamwarners. That's 100% scam. The strange names, odd English, and the free 4470 numbers that transfer calls to another phone anywhere in the world, leave no possible doubt.
The scammer is likely in West Africa so there's no point in reporting it to your local police. All you can do is break off contact.
