Hello,

The apartment located in 814 Royal Ave, New Westminster, BC with 2 bedrooms and 2 bathrooms is still available. I'm a civil engineer and I work for a company that won an auction for a project in construction in London, United Kingdom, so my accommodation period in England will be about 4 years. As you can see I'm not asking for such a large amount on the rental. I just want to find a good and trust person to take good care of the apartment as long as I'm away. Is not in my best interest to make a business or a profit with the apartment. I`m the owner of the apt and everything it's just like in the pictures. Is the 1st time I'm renting. The apartment is furnished but if you want you can use your furniture and deposit mine in the storage unit that is located near the building not far away. The rent for 1 month is 780CAD$ (for the whole apartment) including all utilities (water, electricity, heat, internet, cable, 2 parking spots , dishwasher, garbage disposal, microwave, refrigerator, stove, laundry in-suite, washer and dryer). Everything in this apt is functional because is recently renovated. If something breaks (the worst case that could happen) in the apartment, I will cover the repair costs, or I will deduct those from monthly payments. You can move in the apt in the same day when you receive the keys. The only problem is that I need to send you the keys because it is a private property and I hope that we can find a compromise.
If you have any other questions please e-mail me back.

Thank you for your interest and hope to hear from you soon!

This person asks for a deposit payment via Western Union or MoneyGram with a promise that he will send the keys through a courier company.

Sounds safe. It's not!

At other times, he will ask for proof that you are able to pay the deposit and rent due to a string of time wasters.
This proof is in the form of a Western Union or MoneyGram payment to a lawyer,a friend or family member.

In either case, if payment is made and you give this person the details, they will collect the money.
You will not hear from them again.

If you are reading this because you are looking for property to rent, and you are in contact with this thief you are probably searching Craigslist, Gumtree or similar listing sites. If you receive any requests from 'Landlords' asking for some kind of payment before viewing, then it will also be a scam. Please forward the mail to me at the address in my signature line and I will investigate and list them if necessary.
