Room for Rent and other rental scams

Hi, new poster here from Finland.

I've been searching for an apartment here in Helsinki. I saw an ad for an apartment at the site tori.fi on Sunday (the ad isn't there anymore). I responded to the ad on Sunday and got an email in response today. It looks very much like the previous scams from the same guy I've read about on this site.

Hello,

My name is Gerrit Andre Kleene and I got an e-mail regarding your interest in my apartment located in Itämerenkatu 12, 00180 Helsinki. I want to rent my apartment to some nice and responsible persons, so I would like to know more details about yourself: your age, if you are married, if you have a pet, if you have a car, your occupation, etc. The apartment is exactly like in the pictures, fully furnished, fully equipped, so you won't need anything to move in (you can also bring your own furniture, I have a private storage in the building). The apartment has 30m2, and is situated on the 2nd floor. The monthly rent is 550EUR, utilities included (water, electricity). You can rent the apartment for an indefinite period, but for a minimum period of three months.
About myself, I am 43 years old single man and I was born in Zug, Switzerland. Now I am working as a project manager in civil engineering for a company named Skanska. I bought this flat when I worked in Finland as part of a 5 year contract, thinking it would be a better investment than renting it. Also, I am the single owner of the apartment.
I'm renting my apartment, because my company has won an auction for a big project in Liverpool, United Kingdom so my accommodation period here will be very large (more than 5 years). I'm already in Liverpool, but I have though at a solution so you can get the keys and visit the apartment to make an impression. I appreciate your interest in my apartment and I'm looking forward to our future collaboration and friendship.

Sincerely,
Andre
PS: Attached you will find the pictures of the apartment.

Yeah, he's "thought of a solution" to how I can get the keys to visit the apartment.
Oh well, it seemed too good to be true anyway. Just thought I'd share this.

Hi everyone, same guy here in Switzerland...

Hello,

My name is Kleene Gerrit Andre and I just got an e-mail regarding your interest in my apartment in Junkerngasse 12, 3011 Bern. I'm looking for someone to live in my apartment, because my company has won an auction for a big construction project in England. I'm a project manager in civil engineering, so my accommodation period here will be very large (more than 4 years). I'm a dutch engineer. I bought this flat last year, thinking it would be a better investment than taking in rent. I was supposed to work in a project in Bern for 5 years (until 2015), but they cancelled and I had to move to England. I am the single owner, the apartment is fully paid and there is no legal problem. The apartment is unoccupied.
I want to rent my apartment to some nice and responsible persons, so I would like to know more details about yourself : How old are you, if you are married, if you have a pet, if you have a car, occupation etc.. I must say that I have nothing against the fact that you're a student and I love pets and they are welcome in the apartment. You should also know that I appreciate the sincerity.
In addition to the rest, here is some information about myself and about the apartment, so we knew a little more.
The apartment is exactly like in the pictures, fully furnished, fully equipped, so you won't need anything to move in (you can also bring your own things furniture if you have). I can move my furniture into a storage ( no extra costs).
The monthly rent is 1100CHF (for the whole apartment), utilities included (water, electricity, internet, cable, one parking space). You can rent the apartment for an indefinite period, but for a minimum period of three months.
About myself, I am 43 years old, single man, and as mentioned above I am a project manager in civil engineering, currently living in Liverpool, United Kingdom. You can move into the apartment the same day you receive the keys. I'm already in UK, but I already though at a solution so you can get the keys and visit the apartment to make an impression.
I appreciate your interest in my apartment and I'm looking forward to our future collaboration and friendship.

Sincerely,
Andre
PS: In order to know each other better and for a good collaboration I can send you a copy of my Id, Passport, Engineer Degree

Such a waste of time...

Welcome to ScamWarners xjolyx, thank you for posting this information.

Sadly scammers have documents like this on offered to show to you. The get them from victims who don't know that information is used by the scammer to hurt others. It is a waste as you said.
