Subject: Re: one bedroom inquiry

Thanks for your interest in my apartment. I am looking for a responsible & clean tenant that will be able to take good care of my apartment. I work as a research associate and I travel a lot, Presently I'm in United Kingdom for a research and I don't know when I will move back to the United States that's why am looking for a tenant who will live in the apartment and take care of because I don't want to sell it. The apartment is available for long term and short term rental. The apartment is located at 1323 N Olive Dr West Hollywood, CA 90069

I will come to California for a visit to see how you maintain the apartment. The apartment is furnished but if you need it unfurnished, I can have the furniture moved to the storage. The rent is inclusive of the below listed utilities.

• High Speed Internet
• In-Suite Laundry
• Large in-suite storage
• Cable
• Heat & AC

It's a spacious and lovely 1-bedroom 1 bathroom and storage room furnished apartment, Utilities are included and Pets are allowed. Kitchen fully equipped, Kettle - Toaster - Dishwasher - Freezer - Microwave - Oven - Dryer - Heat - Water - Washing Machine and Electric. I want you to note that I'm a kind and honest man and I spent a lot on my property so I want good maintenance for the apartment and I want you to treat it like it's your property.I want to have trust in you as I always stand on my words.

The rent is $600 per month with utilities included and parking available. You can drive by the building at your convenient time to view the exterior of the building. If you're interested and willing to proceed I will send you pictures if the interior so you know what it looks like. I will ship the keys and documents of the apartment to you via UPS overnight delivery if you're willing to rent the apartment. Email my wife Karen on ([email protected]) so she can send you pictures and more details regarding the apartment.

John Bruno

This person asks for a deposit payment via Western Union or MoneyGram with a promise that he will send the keys through a courier company.

Sounds safe. It's not!

At other times, he will ask for proof that you are able to pay the deposit and rent due to a string of time wasters.
This proof is in the form of a Western Union or MoneyGram payment to a lawyer,a friend or family member.

In either case, if payment is made and you give this person the details, they will collect the money.
You will not hear from them again.

If you are reading this because you are looking for property to rent, and you are in contact with this thief you are probably searching Craigslist, Gumtree or similar listing sites. If you receive any requests from 'Landlords' asking for some kind of payment before viewing, then it will also be a scam. Please forward the mail to me at the address in my signature line and I will investigate and list them if necessary.

Subject: *******RENT APPLICATION FORM*******

Thanks for your response once again, I really appreciate your expression. We don't have any friend or relative to show the interior of the apartment because I'm with the keys and documents.I want you to fill out the questions in the attached application and you must answer those questions to qualify for the rental. We would offer a long term and short term rental and we are ready to rent for as long as you want. Note : You won't be able to view inside the apartment until we finalize everything since the keys /documents is here with me in London England(UK). You can only view the apartment from the outside. The rent per month includes all UTILITIES with PARKING available.

Awaiting your reply so we can proceed. Please we're doing this transaction based on trust & honesty ,we're putting everything into Gods hand, so please do not let us down. N:B : If you can pay two months, you will get one month free.I had an accident which affected my hearing and my legs , I am currently on a wheel chair right now, I do not use a phone that's why I am always online, if you are interested, you can fill out the rent application in the attached file and get back to me as soon as possible. You can call my husband on +447031833137

Note:- We're looking for someone who is ready to move in as soon as possible since our apartment is free right now and we will be giving out a month free.

Regards
Karen

Hi - I just received an email from this same guy. The email screamed scam at me but I couldn't put my finger on exactly how they'd benefit. I forwarded it to your email, as you asked. You'll see it's almost verbatim what you've posted. One thing, he references coming to visit the apt in California, but this was in response to an ad in the craigslist/Washington DC area housing forum. Anyway ... peace!

Welcome to ScamWarners panda123. Scammers often use a script and in these cases, change the address to fit the area of Craigslist.

Please post up the email address you received the message from. That will help others. Also if you will post up the headers, that is helpful. Instructions for finding headers are in my signature.
