This person asks for a deposit payment via Western Union or MoneyGram with a promise that he will send the keys through a courier company.
Sounds safe. It's not!
At other times, he will ask for proof that you are able to pay the deposit and rent due to a string of time wasters.
This proof is in the form of a Western Union or MoneyGram payment to a lawyer,a friend or family member.
In either case, if payment is made and you give this person the details, they will collect the money.
You will not hear from them again.
If you are reading this because you are looking for property to rent, and you are in contact with this thief you are probably searching Craigslist, Gumtree or similar listing sites. If you receive any requests from 'Landlords' asking for some kind of payment before viewing, then it will also be a scam. Please forward the mail to me at the address in my signature line and I will investigate and list them if necessary.
Good to read back to you with the rent application form filled and I really appreciate all your promise to take very good care of the apartment, I felt relived after I got your application form, because you sound so trust worthy and my instincts tell me that you are my perfect tenant. I just want to let you know that we have decided to let you live in our apartment. As we have found your application very satisfactory and acceptable by my family. Please once again, we are giving you this on trust and do not disappoint us and I promise you that you will love the apartment. You will be making payment for the last month rent refundable fee before your tenancy to enable shipment of the keys and document to the address provided, You can move in at your convenience once the down deposit is made, you are only paying for the first month rent only at your convenient time when you move in, because I don't want to do something that will be stressful or difficult to my fellow human being all we want from you is to help us take good care of it property which I believe you can! I just want to plead you not to forget your promise over taking good care of the property for us because that this the main reason why we are renting it out. I've already called to the courier service for the shipment of the package. The receptionist said the keys and documents will get to you the next day the shipping payment is made. We will give you the privilege to send just the last month rent for now so that I can proceed with the shipping of the package then the first month rent once you receive it with a promise to do so prior the moving date. As I said earlier we only want our daughter in Malaysia to have the money in school. You will be sending the last rent to her. Once the payment is confirm I will send the package and email the shipping tracking number from the courier service to you. I want you to keep to your word and we don't want to regret in giving you our property but God forbid just telling you what we want from you, the package will be deliver to you the next day by overnight shipping at your doorstep.
The last month rent $1000 CAD payment via Western union money transfer to the information below:
