Bogus Apartment Scammer - [email protected]

PLEASE DO NOT GIVE MONEY TO THIS CON ARTIST

This is a scam. You can verify this by searching against a paragraph in their emails. You'll find plenty of examples of the script being used elsewhere. Sometimes a scammer will change their email address, name or location, but the idea is the same, and they often steal pictures to try to make their scam appear genuine.

Here's how this 1 worked. the scammer posted the following on the expatriates Brussels website:

EUR 400 / month - 1 BR - 1br - Cosy flat with terrace (near EU and university) ( Brussels - Etterbeek)

The flat (total size 52 m2) on 3rd floor comprises a bedroom with roof terrace, a living room (each room approx. 20 m2; high ceilings) with balcony, a bathroom (with) with toilet, and a kitchen (approx. 8 m2), fully equipped with oven, microwave, refrigerator, dishwasher, washing machine, coffee machine, crockery, etc.
It is fully furnished with TV, double bed, sofa bed, lots of cupboard space, tables and chairs.
The flat is located in a townhouse, in Rue Philippe Baucq, 1040 Brussels (Etterbeek), a safe and quiet residential area, close to shops, supermarkets, public transport (bus lines 34, 95, tramway 81 and 82), and within walking distance from university (ULB / VUB) and from the European Institutions (1200m to EU Parliament, and 1400 m to R.P.Schuman).

Expatriates have now removed the advert.

This scam fools people because they think they are going to get the keys when they send money to the scammer, but they are wrong. The scammer will simply keep the money.

Please do not hand any money to scammers. Never give any money for an apartment, if you have no legal protection and way of verifying the property and person are genuine. This does not mean they tell you they are, or that they send you pics etc, it means you can legally prove they are connected to the property and able to let it legally.
