Hello Michelle,

Thank you for your response to my holiday rental advert, your dates are still available for rent in January, so please specify your intended dates so i can check my reservation Calender for availability. It is a 2 bed room/ 2 bath and fully furnished to suite your every need during your holiday.

I charge $1,060/ per week inclusive of (Cleaning, utilities, Tax and vat), plus a $500 refundable damage deposit (to be returned if no damages are noticed in the unit). Please get back if you will like to lock-in your dates with me so i can guide you on how my reservation procedure works.

Thank you.

Regards,
Chris.

The thief will tell you that you can rent his accommodation only if you can prove that you have genuine interest. He will ask you send money by wire transfer (normally Western Union) to yourself or a member of the family to show that you have sufficient finances and that you are not a "time waster".

Another variation of this scam is that you need to send (by Western Union) money in order that the keys and other documents can be couriered to you

He will ask you to send him the transfer details.

Make no mistake ! Western Union Transfers can be picked up virtually anywhere in the world and with the minimum of identification. They are almost impossible to trace once the money has been collected. You will never get to see the accommodation or your money again.

If you are reading this because you are looking for property to rent, and you are in contact with this thief you are probably searching Gumtree or similar listing sites. If you receive any requests from 'Landlords' asking for some kind of payment by Western Union before viewing, then it will also be a scam. Please forward the mail to me at the address in my signature line and I will investigate and list them if necessary.

Hi Michelle,

Good day to you and thanks for your response to my mail. I do understand your plight on the high rate of scam these days and i do my best to fish out any con man i come across online, an i can assure you that you are renting with the right person if you work with me, because i try my best to protect all my renters interest and renter due services for your money, Oh less i forget there is a wireless internet available in the apartment also a reliable heating system, washing machine/ dryer and all inclusive in your rent. Bellow is my reservation procedure;

*To lock-in your dates with me, you are to fill my rental agreement & Booking form of which i will send to you upon your request for it, also i require a down deposit for the 1 week, and your damage deposit will be required on your arrival day either in cash or any mode of payment convenient for you. If you can make this payable as soon as possible, i would be able to record your dates early enough with me.

*My preffered modes of payment are via; PayPal or a bank wire transfer, so let me know which one is convenient for you to use.

* A rental receipt will be issued and sent to you as soon as your deposit is confirmed by my property accountant which will contain your reservation details including a reservation confirmation number for you to confirm your reservation with the resort. You are also required to bring along your rental receipt on your arrival day as your evidence of payment. Please indicate if you will like me to send you my Rental Agreement & Booking Form for your review.

I hope to read back from you soonest. Thanks for your time and interest.

Regards,
Chris..
