Dear Renter,

House Address: (360 Quail Street, Albany, NY 12208):

Property is available for move in at the moment for $700 for the month rent and $600 for the security deposit (Refundable After Lease period , As long as there are no damages on property after inspection) . For immediate move in you would be required to make total payment of $1,300. But if you are not moving in Immediately you would be required to make a down payment of $600 for the security deposit Non- negotiable to hold property till desired move in date.

Unfortunately I would not be present in person to show the property due to a job transfer to London UK, and i do not have a local representative to show the house due to limited time so if you are interested in renting property and willing to work with me despite my absence then I would email the necessary papers for the lease to you, for necessary endorsement. You would be required to fill a rental application which is been attached to this email, if you are interested in renting then lets begin the rental process.

I will also want to tell you that the neighborhood is secured and the people staying there are good people, i bet you like the neighborhood. Note: you are free to go by the house at your own leisure to view the environment and get back to me if you like what you saw.

This person asks for a deposit payment via Western Union, MoneyGram or bank transfer with a promise that you can have the keys to a property that does not belong to him.

Sounds safe. It's not!

At other times, he will ask for proof that you are able to pay the deposit and rent due to a string of time wasters.
This proof is in the form of a Western Union or MoneyGram payment to a lawyer,a friend or family member.

In either case, if payment is made and you give this person the details, they will collect the money.
You will not hear from them again.

If you are reading this because you are looking for property to rent, and you are in contact with this thief you are probably searching Craigslist, Gumtree or similar listing sites. If you receive any requests from 'Landlords' asking for some kind of payment before viewing, then it will also be a scam. Please forward the mail to me at the address in my signature line and I will investigate and list them if necessary.
