Thanks for the reply and i understand your plight. However,I'm very sure that
your son definitely love the flat when he sees it. But a little protocol would
be followed in order to know your true intentions about the flat as well.
I would require an evidence of deposit and first month's rent before the
viewing because when some people come for a viewing they sometimes steal
things that belong to the present residents of the flat( Please understand
that i don't mean you or your son). I would then also be sure that you and
your son would have the money to pay since you would have already made a
transfer to her here in London.

This is why an evidence of deposit is required before a viewing as this was
made mandatory by the council.I have also attached a copy of my council tax
bill as evidence that i am the owner of the flat and a copy of my
International passport as well. You would need to make a transfer of the
deposit and a month's rent to your son through Western Union or moneygram.
This is how the transfer process would be:

Sender's Name: Your Name
Sender's Address: Your Address
Receiver's Name: Your son's Name
Receiver's Address: London, UK

This way your money is secure and i also have a sense of security that i am
dealing with an honest person( please don't take offense). So when your son
comes for viewing and decides to take the room(which i am sure he would!) we
would both go to the western union outlet down the street so that your son can
receive the money and pay me in cash. I would need a scanned copy of the
western receipt so i can confirm online that you have truly sent the money to
your son.

Thanks for your understanding. Have a nice time and i await your response.

Cheers,
Betty.

PS: Security deposit is 352pounds and rent is 352pounds per month which is
inclusive of bills. The security deposit would be refunded back to you when
you move-into the room.

The thief will tell you that you can rent his accommodation only if you can prove that you have genuine interest. He will ask you send money by wire transfer (normally Western Union) to yourself or a member of the family to show that you have sufficient finances and that you are not a "time waster".

Another variation of this scam is that you need to send (by Western Union) money in order that the keys and other documents can be couriered to you

He will ask you to send him the transfer details.

Make no mistake ! Western Union Transfers can be picked up virtually anywhere in the world and with the minimum of identification. They are almost impossible to trace once the money has been collected. You will never get to see the accommodation or your money again.

If you are reading this because you are looking for property to rent, and you are in contact with this thief you are probably searching Gumtree or similar listing sites. If you receive any requests from 'Landlords' asking for some kind of payment by Western Union before viewing, then it will also be a scam. Please forward the mail to me at the address in my signature line and I will investigate and list them if necessary.

Subject: Re: Fw: £89 GREATLY FURNISHED

Dear Michelle,

Regarding the security deposit and 4weeks rent,my banker had advised me on a safe, fast and reliable way to make the payment which my past international flatmates have also used and confirmed it. It's through Western Union money transfer. You would be given a slip to fill, here are my details you would need to fill the slip:-

Full name:- Daisy Winchester
Address:- 125, Harley Street, Westminster, London W1G 6AY, UK

I would also want you to send me a copy of your travel details when you get it so that i can have it in my schedule to receive you at your landing destination like i have always done to my past International flatmates in order to take you directly to the flat from there.

I have attached a copy of my council tax bill from the Westminster council here in London for your reference so as to clarify that i am the true owner of the flat and a copy of my International passport too as a form of my identity along with some pictures of mine. I would also want you to send me your picture for easy recognition at your landing destination.

A receipt would be issued to you immediately the security deposit and 4weeks rent has been made and confirmed here in London which i shall send to you immediately. You would bring the slip along with you when coming to London. Please,be reminded that the security deposit would be refunded back to you in full when you arrive.

I also want you to know that the room is already on hold for you as soon as you make the transfer and send me the payment details and the 10-digits number that would be given to you at the Western union office or you could just scan the copy of the receipt and send it to me as well for documentation.

I really look forward to reading from you and also look forward to receiving you in the flat as well.

Cheers,
Daisy

PS:- Security deposit is 352pounds and rent is 352pounds a month (Total is 704pounds). The security deposit would be refunded back to you when you move into the flat.
