Hi,
I just found this post because I got the exact same email from mike jelby <[email protected]< just with a different address for the property and a different price. I googled it, because it was too good to be true. So far, he has sent me lease agreement and I have sent him a copy of my passport, my home address and my contact details. He said he would be in Ireland at the moment but would arrange to come back to London soon to arrange a viewing with me.
Now that I know that it is a scam I won't even bother anymore of course. I'm just interested how did this story end with you? Did you actually pay him any money?

The guy who was offering me the room wrote again ... And now it's even obvious to me that it is a scam.
Great to hear from you once again.Proceedings about the
apartment, presently am in Dublin,i told you that already so i am always busy over here
trading sales,am planning to come to London as soon as possible on meeting you.i will as well
attach my Own personal International Identity,so that you will be
recognising me on your day of arrival,i bet these would be great for
both of us.but i think we have to be doing these based on trust,i have
been having great problems in matters of such like these.please i want
you to understand me .imagine a girl ask me to come from Dublin to
London that she wants to rent the apartment,i left my job to meet
her,on getting there she told me that she wants to rent the apartment
but the bills are too much for her to afford after we have both
reached an aggreement in which she had accepted the aggreement form,
in which she has already known the price and that i should allow her
to stay till the end of the month before she can pay me up.i wasted my
time trying to get my apartment ready for her and she made every thing
sucks!can you see thats is wrong,so i need to be sure that you will be
getting the place and i believe you will be liking it too.the
apartment is mine and these is my own personal way of doing these,so
the only way for me to confirm that you are capable of getting the
place and leave my Job in Dublin to London is for you to send an
advance payment of a month's rent plus deposits via Western Union
Money Transfer or Money Gram to your friend, relative or some one good
in U.k that can know about the apartment arrangement. and then scan
the receipt to me and once i see that to prove that you are capable of
paying the monthly payment for the place then i will aquire these
confidencial assurance that you will be able to get the Apartment to
be sure enough to come back to town and at the same time i will as
well show these to my Lawyer as a proof for him not to take any other
person to the apartment again in order to hold the place for you, then
i will be sure that you have the money to get the apartment.and we
both will start preparing Papers of getting the place for you.and if
what you see in the pictures are different from what you see when
viewing the apartment then you can easily go and pick up your money
back from Western Union money transfer or Money Gram since you sent
the money into your friends name. Its for the safety of both parties
but am very sure that you will like the apartment. get back to me
Asap.i just dont want to fall into the similar problem i had with the
lady i stated above.Peace

I am just wondering, he even attached a copy of his passport!
Is that really him? Or is it a fake copy? Should I show it to the police to prevent that he scams more people?

The passport will not belong to him. It will be a copy of a real passport, as-is or edited, taken from another victim who sent it thinking they were verifying their identity for a rental.

In future, you need to make sure it is clearly marked as fraudulent, so that another scammer cannot pick it up and use it.
