Hello Michelle

Thanks for your reply with your details I have looked at it and I am very much ok with everything I am willing to give you a chance to rent my place but I will want you to give me your honest and truthful word that you will keep the place in good condition during your period of staying in my apartment as I am not around to monitor it firsthand, I am sure you certainly will be very comfortable living in the area, I will be sending you the keys for my place through mail after we have discussed and come to an agreement so you can then just hold on to it and maybe do any necessary things you may want to do with the place before you are finally ready to move in.When you have moved in then I will provide you with the contact of someone you can call in case of any maintenance issues that may come up during your stay in my home.

I still have quite a number of people who are willing to get the place also so if you are truly interested in renting the place for yourself I will suggest that you act fast in other not to loose it to other interested applicants..Kindly give me a call on my number (011)-2348127106169 as soon as you can so we can discuss and hopefully come to an agreement and finalize everything..Hope to hear from you soon

Best Regards
Daniel

The thief will tell you that you can rent his accommodation only if you can prove that you have genuine interest. He will ask you send money by wire transfer (normally Western Union) to yourself or a member of the family to show that you have sufficient finances and that you are not a "time waster".

Another variation of this scam is that you need to send (by Western Union) money in order that the keys and other documents can be couriered to you

He will ask you to send him the transfer details.

Make no mistake ! Western Union Transfers can be picked up virtually anywhere in the world and with the minimum of identification. They are almost impossible to trace once the money has been collected. You will never get to see the accommodation or your money again.

If you are reading this because you are looking for property to rent, and you are in contact with this thief you are probably searching Gumtree or similar listing sites. If you receive any requests from 'Landlords' asking for some kind of payment by Western Union before viewing, then it will also be a scam. Please forward the mail to me at the address in my signature line and I will investigate and list them if necessary.
