The thief will tell you that you can rent his accommodation only if you can prove that you have genuine interest. He will ask you send money by wire transfer (normally Western Union) to yourself or a member of the family to show that you have sufficient finances and that you are not a "time waster".

Another variation of this scam is that you need to send (by Western Union) money in order that the keys and other documents can be couriered to you

He will ask you to send him the transfer details.

Make no mistake ! Western Union Transfers can be picked up virtually anywhere in the world and with the minimum of identification. They are almost impossible to trace once the money has been collected. You will never get to see the accommodation or your money again.

If you are reading this because you are looking for property to rent, and you are in contact with this thief you are probably searching Gumtree or similar listing sites. If you receive any requests from 'Landlords' asking for some kind of payment by Western Union before viewing, then it will also be a scam. Please forward the mail to me at the address in my signature line and I will investigate and list them if necessary.

It all sounds good, is there anyway you could photocopy the deeds to the house and your id's so I am 100% sure as I am unable to make any payments without 100% confirmation that this is legit. Do you have your bank account number and sort code so i can send the deposit once you've sent the copys of the necessary documents

I understand everything you have said but to be honest disclosing the full Address to you without the deposit yet is a little bit hard for me cause i have been let down before by someone wanting to rent from me and he asked for the full Address and when i gave it to him he went break the door and started living in the house knowing that i was away and it took me a lot to travel down to get him evicted after so many damages he did and that's the reason i knewly renovated the house and i am very sure you will love it,I hope you see where i am coming from???I want you to know that the house is lovely,Spacious clean and the surroundings is also very clean cause i love to keep things tidy and that is why i am pleading with you to take good care of the house cause everything is in Order okay??That is the reason i am asking for just the deposit for you to move in and after you have moved in at the end of the first month in the house then you can make your first month rent,as soon as the deposit is made i will send the package to you which will contain the keys and documents and also a key access card for security reason okay???????Please get back to me asap and let me know what you feel
