Hello,

Thank you for your interest in my apartment located in 1 Cordoba Dr, Vaughan, ON, Canada. The apartment is in excellent condition and it's just like in the pictures, very clean and very well taken. Honestly from point of view I'm sure that you will rent it on spot. I'm not looking to make a business or a profit with the apartment, I'm just trying to find a good and trust person to take good care of the place. The apartment has 2 bedrooms and 2 bathrooms. It is furnished but if you want you can use your furniture and deposit mine in the storage unit that is located near the building not far away. The rent is 800CAD/month with everything included (heat, hydro, water, electricity, cable and internet, 2 parking spots, laundry in-suite, washer and dryer). You will have full access to all the amenities of the building. Pets are allowed. I stayed in the apartment with my wife for 3 months. I'm a civil engineer and I work for a company that has an auction for a project in construction in London, United Kingdom, so my accommodation period in England will be about 4 years. Everything in the apartment is new so there will be no need for repairs. The only problem is that I need to send you the keys and papers because it is a private property and I'm sure we can make this happen.

Thank you and look forward hearing from you!

This person asks for a deposit payment via Western Union, MoneyGram or bank transfer with a promise that you can have the keys to a property that does not belong to him.

Sounds safe. It's not!

At other times, he will ask for proof that you are able to pay the deposit and rent due to a string of time wasters.
This proof is in the form of a Western Union or MoneyGram payment to a lawyer,a friend or family member.

In either case, if payment is made and you give this person the details, they will collect the money.
You will not hear from them again.

If you are reading this because you are looking for property to rent, and you are in contact with this thief you are probably searching Craigslist, Gumtree or similar listing sites. If you receive any requests from 'Landlords' asking for some kind of payment before viewing, then it will also be a scam. Please forward the mail to me at the address in my signature line and I will investigate and list them if necessary.

Hello,
I've fallen for this one, but was able to retrieve the CAD$800 from Western Union after I read your post.
He uses Click and Buy as an Agent to ship you the keys and rental agreement.
I've reported to Click and Buy and AOL and I'm about to report to Canadian Anti-Fraud unit as well.
All I lost was $40, that Western Union charges for the transaction, but still this is not right, this Thomas guy going around fooling innocent hard working people.

Welcome to ScamWarners Branca. It is GREAT that you were able to retrieve your money before the scammer could pick it up. Sadly, that is rare, but we love to hear that a scammer didn't get someone's money.

It is wrong, morally and legally, but because of the countries they operate out of, it is real difficult to catch and prosecute them. That is why we work to warn, educate and support those who have encountered a scammer.

Thank you for posting this good news. Sorry for the loss you did experience.

Rest in Peace 24 June 2015.
