Thank you once more for your interest in renting our house,we really appreciate it.The monthly rent is $1200 while the deposit is $600 making a total of $1800 to move in.Am sure by now you must have driven by to see the house and the neighborhood but if you haven't please do drive by to see the house and the neighborhood today then you get back to me if you love it so that we can discuss further.

I just finished discussing with my wife regarding your interest and we are willing to rent the house to you.We will be in the State by November just for a short visit and we are not planning to return to the house.I understand you intend to move in before our arrival but if you are really serious about the house then we will arrange to send the keys and the paperwork to you which will be delivered to you within 48 hours via courier so that you can possibly occupy the house but we really have to be sure that you are willing to rent the house before we can arrange to send the keys/paperwork to you. So if you could pay the deposit first $600 then we will be rest assured that you are serious about the house then we can now arrange to send the keys/paperwork to you as this will help hold the house till you are ready to move in.

Please call me so that we can discuss further, you can reach me on +2348052592021. Once again thank you so much for your response.Await your immediate response.

God Bless You.
Pastor Eric Thomas.

This person asks for a deposit payment via Western Union, MoneyGram or bank transfer with a promise that you can have the keys to a property that does not belong to him.

Sounds safe. It's not!

At other times, he will ask for proof that you are able to pay the deposit and rent due to a string of time wasters.
This proof is in the form of a Western Union or MoneyGram payment to a lawyer,a friend or family member.

In either case, if payment is made and you give this person the details, they will collect the money.
You will not hear from them again.

If you are reading this because you are looking for property to rent, and you are in contact with this thief you are probably searching Craigslist, Gumtree or similar listing sites. If you receive any requests from 'Landlords' asking for some kind of payment before viewing, then it will also be a scam. Please forward the mail to me at the address in my signature line and I will investigate and list them if necessary.
