Room for Rent and other rental scams

Hello,
I have been looking for a place to rent in London for 2 weeks via the website "studentrooms.co.uk". I almost got tricked by a scammer ("Alessa Eldwin"), and now that I have found your website, I become more and more suspicious... On that website, if you want to contact members, you have got to suscribe and pay 9,99 pounds for 10 days, which I did. You have to pay via Visa. But now I am wondering, was it safe to do so? Is that website truly secured? Because almost all the members I contacted were scammers in the end...
I have to say that I am quite freaking out about that now :s
Thank you so much for your help!

Welcome to ScamWarners Pittipp.

The website has been active for much longer than typical scammers do. I don't know the site at all. You can ask your credit card provider to notify you if any charges come in which are unusual.

If you can monitor your credit card online, you can do the same. It can be a real minefield out on the internet. You are often your best protection.

We do not recommend websites to trust or use, except those we are affiliated with or have a relationship with.
