I almost got Scam!

This is my experience.. I posted a ad on craiglist saying that I needed a furnish room perferbly in manhattan then I get a reply from "Samuel Harvey" Says

Emails from "samuel"
Hello,
I have two different rooms to rent in my three bedroom flat,I will like to share my flat with humble and gentle male or female, Pls contact me via my private email address for more information if you are still looking for a room.

Samuel....

Thanks so much for the swift response to my mail regarding my room, here is a little information about me and the room.

About
myself: I am a young male in my mid 20s...Vibrant and working as a research lab scientist in micro biology and doing my masters same time. I work till late evening and return home very tired. I believes there is more to be achieved as my years still lie ahead. I'm clean and free from all sort of crime..I party and have fun only at weekends but hate dirtiness and don't turn my flat into a daylight/night club. ( It is allowed to go out in the night and return in the night (late night too) but you will have to let me know so that i do not get worried about you and be sure you are okay.)

I currently occupy a room and have two vacant furnished rooms for rent. I'm renting it because my previous flatmates are through with there activities here and gone back to UK on a placement. So, i need people who are fun to be with, people whom we could share times and moments together, hang out, share ideas and be good friends, not just minding your business or going into your room after the day...but you can always have your private time and affair if you so wish and desire.

If you are familiar with the city, you would know rooms in this area are very rear and scare to come by.

We are sharing just the Kitchen for cooking purpose, the large living room opened to the garden just by the back of the apartment for fresh air at night. You have your own bathroom, toilet and furnished bedroom. I shall send you the pictures in my next mail.

*1 bedroom with double bed and huge closet and window 52sqm. 500$ per month
*1 bedroom with single bed and closet window 42sqm. 300$ per month
* A refundable security deposit of 600$.

NB: All rent fees is inclusive of utilities, council tax, security fee, CAF and contract is also available to ensure you of safe refund of your deposit.

Utilities included are: Water, Gas refill, Cable TV, Electricity and internet bill (Wireless Lan).

Amenities in the flat includes: A small fridge in each room, A big freezer in the kitchen for freezing stuffs, each room has a big wardrobe for keeping your personal belongings, An LCD TV connected to a cable, A surround sound system, A queens bed with linen supplied(The bed is
capable of sleeping two people conveniently), Washer/dryer for laundry needs, dish washer as well, Air-condition and central heating system to
keep the room warm incase of cold and harsh weather condition, Gas cooker and micro wave oven available in the kitchen..I think these are all i could remember in my flat but if there is anything needed, it would be provided.

Questions: I would like to know a little about you as my prospective flat mate. I would like to know where you will be coming from? Who will be responsible for your rent payment? Do you have references incase you have flat shared in the past? How long are you willing to stay? Are you a student or worker? Would you be expecting any guest in the near future and do you have any pet to come with?

Hope this details have been helpful enough to know who you would be flat-sharing with and the amenities in my flat.

Respond with the answers above and once i get this, i will email my flat pictures and rental terms to you inmy next email before we proceed further.

And just for the confirmation of your address where the keys and the necessary document will be mailed to after payment:

after several emails 26 to be exact of him requesting I tell him about myself because he dosnt want to live with a "stranger" he wants a "friend" also requested a copy of identification for his family lawyer to set up contract for me.. I did what he asked me to do he sends me contract and guess what it was under Nikki Green umm my name is not NIkki green I sent him an email asking him who is nikki green and why is my name not in document he said nikki was his past roomate that left to UK to please wire him deposit money to UK so he can send me keys and pick me up from airport... .

Suspicions grew so I put the UK address he gave me to wire him the money to and guess what the first thing that came up said Singapore Scam I clicked it and it lead me to this website!!! It had a victim explaining her situation that she got scam she also copy and pasted some of the conversation and it sounded just like "samuel harvey" but ofcourse different name only thing that was the same was the UK adress to wire the deposit money..

Very happy I didnt wire him money I confronted him and all he told me is that he knew I was going to say that it was a scam and that he will give the rooms to someone else.. People be careful please and I hope this will help someone like it helped me from making a mistake.

I wonder if it's the same ruth harvey mentioned??on http://www.bustedscammers.com/alert_d_dolen.htm
(scroll half way down the page)
And that is the problem of confronting the scammer, lola89. More lies get told to cover the previous ones.
Fraudulant behaviour, lies, deceit, trickery, thieving etcetera and etcetera is the life of a scammer and nothing will change that. It's best not to confront the scoundrel because it will lay low for a wee bit, only to prepare the next scam that will be harder to detect.
It is far better to simply cease all contact and walk away from it. That really confuses them.
Thank-you for the report as it will increase awareness for the honest folk.
