Hi Michelle

Thank you for your response to my holiday rental advert, my sincere apologies for just responding to your mail now as i was away on a business trip and just returned last night. I have looked up my reservation Calender and i will like to inform you that your dates are still available for rent; from October October 15th to 22nd (1 week). My unit has a 2 bed room/ 2 bath and fully furnished to suite your every need during your holiday. I am renting the entire apartment/ unit.

I usually charge $2,060/ per night inclusive of (Cleaning, utilities, Tax and vat), plus a $500 refundable damage deposit (to be returned if no damages are noticed in the unit). Please get back if you will like to lock-in your dates with me so i can guide you on how my reservation procedure works.

Thank you.

Regards,
Pat.

The thief will tell you that you can rent his accommodation only if you can prove that you have genuine interest. He will ask you send money by wire transfer (normally Western Union) to yourself or a member of the family to show that you have sufficient finances and that you are not a "time waster".

Another variation of this scam is that you need to send (by Western Union) money in order that the keys and other documents can be couriered to you

He will ask you to send him the transfer details.

Make no mistake ! Western Union Transfers can be picked up virtually anywhere in the world and with the minimum of identification. They are almost impossible to trace once the money has been collected. You will never get to see the accommodation or your money again.

If you are reading this because you are looking for property to rent, and you are in contact with this thief you are probably searching Gumtree or similar listing sites. If you receive any requests from 'Landlords' asking for some kind of payment by Western Union before viewing, then it will also be a scam. Please forward the mail to me at the address in my signature line and I will investigate and list them if necessary.

Hi Michelle,

Thank you for your timely response to my mail. my sincere apologies for just responding to your mail as i was out of time and just returned this afternoon. I will like to inform you that i have looked up my reservation Calender and i still have your intended dates available for rent; July 27th to August 11th (15 nights). Less i forget there is a wireless internet available in the apartment also a reliable heating system, washing machine/ dryer and all inclusive in your rent. Sure we can arrange for a view but you will need to follow my reservation procedures if you will like to have your dates locked-in and fully booked on my Calender.

*To lock-in your dates with me, you are to fill my rental agreement & Booking form of which i will send to you upon your request for it, also i require a down deposit for the 1 week, plus the refundable damage deposit to be made payable. If you can make this payable as soon as possible, i would be able to record your dates early enough with me.

*My preferred modes of payment are via; PayPal or a bank wire transfer, so let me know which one is suitable for you.

*A rental receipt will be issued and sent to you as soon as your deposit is confirmed by my property accountant and you are also required to bring along your rental receipt on your arrival day as your evidence of payment. I need you to indicate if you will like me to send you my Rental Agreement & Booking Form to process your reservation.

I hope to read back from you soonest. Thanks for your time and interest.

Regards,
Pat.
