This is how mine started:
Now you will see I went pretty far with this one but once i googled the phone number they gave me this is where I found this site and really felt stupid. At the end Vanessa just text me last night trying to set up delivery. I received the check however Im not doing anything with it of course.

Where do I report this, should I bother. I am not responding to any of the emails anymore or text messages or should I ? Maybe I should text back and tell them I am reporting them or Im aware of their scam?

For all of you this is pretty much what i received. And all the emails are the same as everyone else on this forum.

Craigs List has really pissed me off this time.

but i don't have any at the moment. I would have loved to see it but
am very far,but with pictures,I am glad. I will also like you to tell
me more about you and if you have garage or parking space cos I will
have my own car come over, pls let me know the total payment of the
place and more over I will send your email to my dad for him to email
you later bcos he is the one that will be paying the bills but
nevertheless,I will like you to send me your Full Name and the Mailing
Address, your Phone number as well,so that my Dad will issue out the
payment for the place as soon as possible,with that you can hold on
the place for me till i come . I will be looking forward to your email

Then: I answered not knowing at this time that it was a scam although emails kept changing.....
This was the next one from them:
It's good to read back from you ..Am okay with the price of the house
and everything about the house .Yes i will want you to help me secure
the room till i get to the state on the 30th of this month,so kindly get
back to me with your name to be on the check and full mailing address
so that i can forward the information to my dad to mail out the
payment to you...

Then: I gave them my full name and address (stupid) i know.

paying the first month rent). so i want you to secure the room for
me till my arrival and i will also like you to keep off the ads from
Craigslist so that nobody will contact you about the room again.So can
you tell me the nearest airport ?I will get back to you with the

payment to you, and i just got a notification from my Financier that
the check of ($2,550) was delivered to you today and here is the USPS
tracking number provided by them (9101969010386954272266)and a short note with
an EMAIL ADDRESS could be included with the payment concerning the
payment secure department, Never bother to email them ,they only want
to know if the payment has delivered to you successfully .I will be in
the state before ending of this week i will let you know exact date
and time i will arrive to the state, as we both agreed, i want you to
deduct your total move in cost and make a transfer of $2,100 via
Western Union Money Transfer to the person in charge of the delivery
of the furniture and my car because i want the delivery to be made
before my arrival so that i can settle in comfortably.

You have chosen wisely to not do anything with the check. I am glad you did some searching and found that this is a scam.

As you have found, this is none place to report scams. There are other sites too. The police do not have the time or resources to follow most scams. We expose scammers, educate internet users and support victims of scams. That is what we have found is the best thing to do.

I wouldn't contact them any more in any way. Block their email. Ignore their texts. Do not deposit the check they sent you. Nothing good comes from staying in contact with a scammer.

Craigs List has really pissed me off this time.

Craig's List has nothing to do with the scams that appear on the site. They post warnings and they will take down scam posts when they become aware of them. Being educated, careful and vigilant is the best thing you can do. Thank you for being a Member here and posting your experience.

Thank you for the response to my posting. This is one of the best sites I have come across. Hopefully I won't have to post again, but in this day and age that probably won't happen. But I will now be extremely wise in answering any of my ads. Thanks again Bubbles

Oh and I did block the two numbers on my cell phone and marked as spam on my emails. But I had to first respond back to the vanessa text and let her know i was reported them both to the authorities and they better watch out!! And if i had spoken to my girlfriend she had the same situation on selling an item on Craigslist. All too good to be true.....
