Hello,

Thanks for the interest you have shown in my flat. I would need you to provide me the evidence of payment because it is mandatory here in Westminster so that i can be confidence you are serious in taking the room and to assure me that i am really talking to someone whom is true and honest because some funny things are done when people come to houses in the area. You would only need you to make a payment of the Security deposit and a Month Rent only to yourself as prove.

I have now attach the agreement, Please, read carefully and make sure you understand all details and see if they are ok For you or if you will like Anything to be added or removed

I do not ask you to send any money to me because i do not appreciate collecting money from people before moving into the room as well.. All you have to do is to make the payment to your name so that you are still in possession of your cash. What i intend by that is that you would be the receiver yourself so that when you arrive, you would view the room and after you do and satisfies with what you see, i would follow to receive the money so that i can get paid in cash.

If you don't understand this is how you would do about the transfer. You would have go a western union office and make the payment to YOURSELF (not me). What i mean is that you would be the receiver yourself. This is how the transfer process would be. You would have to go to the western union outlet office with someone either your Friend or one of your Family with a valid ID as well.

Sender's name:- Your Friend's NAME
Sender's Address:- Your Friend's ADDRESS
Receiver's name:- Your NAME
Receiver's address:- London UK.

By doing this, your money is 100% safe since you are the only eligible to receive it here in London. I do not ask you to send any money to me because i do not appreciate collecting money from people before moving into the room as well.. All you have to do is to make the payment to your name so that you are still in possession of your cash. What i intend by that is that you would be the receiver yourself, so that when you come, you would view the room and after you do and satisfies with what you see,i would follow to receive the money so that i can get paid in cash. And if you do not like what you see or hear, you would receive your money and go. I would surely refund the transfer charges back to you if you take room or not, I would only need the scanned copy of the receipt so i can confirm online that you have truly sent the money to yourself so i can be confidence about the room.

Thank you so much for understanding and i really look forward to meeting you because i am sure you would love to take the room. I await your response ASAP because i have stopped talking to other people regarding the room as well.

Cheers,
Melissa

The thief will tell you that you can rent his accommodation only if you can prove that you have genuine interest. He will ask you send money by wire transfer (normally Western Union) to yourself or a member of the family to show that you have sufficient finances and that you are not a "time waster".

Another variation of this scam is that you need to send (by Western Union) money in order that the keys and other documents can be couriered to you

He will ask you to send him the transfer details.

Make no mistake ! Western Union Transfers can be picked up virtually anywhere in the world and with the minimum of identification. They are almost impossible to trace once the money has been collected. You will never get to see the accommodation or your money again.

If you are reading this because you are looking for property to rent, and you are in contact with this thief you are probably searching Gumtree or similar listing sites. If you receive any requests from 'Landlords' asking for some kind of payment by Western Union before viewing, then it will also be a scam. Please forward the mail to me at the address in my signature line and I will investigate and list them if necessary.
