We renewed an ad on craigslist and within a few hours we get this email. Our ads ask interested parties for descriptions of themselves and their phone numbers. We'll respond and post the response.

I'm new to this site, so maybe I'm missing something. But I don't get it. What is the scam or suspected scam? Or, at least what is it about the e-mail that's arousing suspicion?

Thanks.

Here's the response so far. Note these scammers are always out-of-state and they always want to secure payment before they arrive. They don't contain any specifics like where they will work. My rental ads always ask to meet live in person at the rental location and always ask for a phone number to be included. If more responses are received from this so-called "Evelyn" they'll be posted here.

With this information we might be abel to get the email domain closed down.

Very interesting to come across this site. I just received the email below in response to a share rental ad I have posted on Craigslist. I had received another response previously from someone else from out of state that was willing to send me a certified check to secure the rental. She didn't even ask me anything about the room or me and also didn't answer me when I asked where she was working. What is the scam? To get into someone house to rob them later? Google could not find the website www.analystproductionltd.biz. Why am I not surprised!

Is the Sublet available?
by Dancer37 Fri Dec 07, 2012 2:50 pm
I received an email from this person.

The first email I responded to without giving any of my personal information. I asked her for personal information, and gave details about the house I'm renting.

The email she initiated with me had "contact" in the subject and read:

"Is the Sublet available?"

The address they sent from was [email protected], but the reply to address is [email protected]. That was a red flag. Then the content (below) was also suspicious (from Canada, poor English, doesn't tell me exactly what she does or where she works). The first email read as follows:

"Hello,
Thanks for getting back to me, My name is Evelyn Davies.....i live in
Ontario,Canada....I'll be traveling down to the states for my vacation
and project making,I am 28yrs of age.....I want to know when it is
available to move in... And for your information if there's any form
of me signing a lease with the leasing office , i i will not be able
to do that until i arrive there but i can make a deposit or first
month rent to you in order for you to be sure that am really
interested and can handle that signing aspect as soon as i get there.
Will be waiting to read from you and will send you more about me and
a picture of me in my next email..

Sincerely"

(no name signed)

I will not respond to this email. All they know is my email account address, which probably won't do them much good.
