Hello everyone,
I'm new here but wanted to report this rental scammer on gumtree. Below is our exchange. Obviously I immediately googled his email address as well as checked the malaysia phone numbers (he got the area code down but the prefix does not appear on any malaysian phone number prefix) as well as looked thru this website. also the rent is too good to be true. i was just shown a property on chiswick high road and it's worth twice as much as he is asking for in rent. so i already knew it was a scam and also thanks to this website i got more info on what scammers will say. i went along for the ride to see what he would do.
I wrote him back with very vague information and asked a lot of questions that a legitimate landlord in the UK would know but this is his reply:
hilarious! at least write an email with proper grammar, spelling and punctuation lol. anyway. just want to give everybody a heads up! be careful out there for the world is full of trickery!
