Room for Rent and other rental scams

I think that I have found this person in Luxembourg. Firstly posted an amazing offer at atHome.lu, then when I asked about the terms and conditions I got sth like this in reply:

Hello,

Thank you for the interest showed for my apartment. For better knowledge of my apartment, along with the pictures, please note that the apartment resides in 4, Bld d'Avranches,1160 Luxembourg,Luxembourg, its approximate surface is of 84m2 and has 1 living room, 1 bathroom, 2 bedrooms and 1 kitchen. Both of us will establish from the beginning the rental period, which can be anywhere between 2 and 36 months.

The kind of tenant I am looking for must be above all very responsible and preferably dynamic and communicative. Utilities such as internet, electricity, water and satellite are included in the monthly rent, which is 1100 Euro per month. The Deposit is also 1100 Euro, and you get it back, when you decide to leave the apartment (you will have to give me at least 30 days notice). You also have one parking space reserved for your use. You can rent my apartment for you alone or for you and your family or friends.

The reason for which I am renting my apartment is that I had to work in another country, which is London,in United Kingdom for 6 months initially, but now I learned that my job will continue for at least 36 months more in the current location. I have already made permanent living arrangements here for me and my family, therefore we decided to put our apartment on the internet up for rent. To this purpose, I entrusted Trulia - Real Estate, which is a well known portal for rentals in London/United Kingdom and also manages overseas transactions, with the ownership contract, the access keys into my apartment, the tenancy contract and the insurance deposit. I have already paid all fees, so you won't have to pay anything extra. If this is of interest to you, please contact me as soon as possible to manage all the rest of the details.

and after I asked about some more details on the transaction I got:

In order for you to move into the apartment,Trulia - Real Estate- will send you a package containing the keys of the apartment and the tenancy contract. For this to happen, please provide me with your complete name and the address where you wish to receive the package. I will forward these details to Trulia and they will make contact. You will receive instructions to deposit an amount of 2200 Euro - first month of rent + security deposit - into their bank account. Trulia will send you the package in 24 hours after confirmation of your payment. Starting from the day you receive the package you will have 7 days to inspect the apartment and see how you accommodate. You will be ensured because the money will remain in Trulia custody, until you inspect the apartment and declare yourself pleased. After you decide to move in, Trulia will grant me access to the deposit you have made with them, and this way your deposit will become the payment for the first month of rent. I will also be ensured because Trulia will keep the money in their account until you move in. If, for whatever reason, you decide not to rent the apartment, you simply send back the keys and tenancy contract to Trulia and ask for a refund, but I know that this won't happen because you will love it.
So, if this is okay with you and you are determined to rent my apartment, then please send me your complete name and address, so I can forward your details to Trulia and they will start the formalities immediately.
I wish you all the best and I'll be waiting for your answer.
Please visit their web site: trulia-uk.org

Fortunately, the font was different than in previous email which suggested the copy-paste method of writing it. Additionally the mail did not contain any answer to my questions and the website of trulia-uk.org is not a reliable one.

BEWARE of one Liane Duval [email protected] and of fake trulia-real estate at trulia-uk.org!!!

Thank you for posting this scam. It will help others to avoid being scammed as well.

It may not be the same scammer, since scammers may copy each other's scripts, but the important thing is that it is definitely a scammer.

The domain trulia-uk.org is a fake, created less than a week ago to support the scam. Our site killers will work on getting it killed.

Same here, we got the same kind of mail yesterday after an offer which looks very interesting on athome.lu. The offer was quickly removed from athome.lu but is still present on some other sites like yellow.lu http://www.yellow.lu/fr/immo/Luxembourg-Centre/Appartement-Luxembourg-2415861.html

Thankfully I looked this up before I got caught.... They are still active on the Irish Rental / Letting network.

I have passed on their banking details to Barclays Bank UK to advise this is going on to...
