Subject: Application review and accepted as our tenant get back to me soon

Con,

I will really appreciate if can take very good care of the apartment, I felt relived after I got your application form, because you sound so trust worthy and my instincts tell me that you are my perfect tenant. I just want to let you know that we have decided to let you live in our apartment. As we have found your application very satisfactory and acceptable by my family. I will also like to tell you that I initially wanted to sell the apartment but my wife suggested I rent it out to responsible person who will be ready to take care of it. that's why we are willing to rent it out to you. its already been furnished, that's one of the major reason I said you should help me take very good care of it, and there is a storage unit in which you can put some of my stuff that you will not used in the apartment.

So I would want you to go through this email and get back to us with your current address correctly and postal code. We will be sending the following document and Entrance rooms Keys to you via carrier service to your current address and the shipping details tracking number will be sent to you. Once again, we are giving you this base on trust and do not disappoint us. You will be making payment for the security deposit refundable fee before your tenancy to enable shipment of the keys and document to the address provided. You can move in at your convenience once the down deposit is made. The rent starts counting when you move in, below document with us and will be sending to you once the payment is made.

1) Entrance and the rooms Keys
2) Paper/Permanent house form
3) Full Description of the house
4) Payment Receipt

I will call the courier service to make enquirer on how the package will be schedule for shipping.

Sincerely,
Gordon

This person asks for a deposit payment via Western Union, MoneyGram or bank transfer with a promise that you can have the keys to a property that does not belong to him.

Sounds safe. It's not!

At other times, he will ask for proof that you are able to pay the deposit and rent due to a string of time wasters.
This proof is in the form of a Western Union or MoneyGram payment to a lawyer,a friend or family member.

In either case, if payment is made and you give this person the details, they will collect the money.
You will not hear from them again.

All the details such as names, addresses, pictures etc. that the scammer uses in order to back up his story, are stolen from elsewhere.

If you are reading this because you are looking for property to rent, and you are in contact with this thief you are probably searching Craigslist, Gumtree or similar listing sites. If you receive any requests from 'Landlords' asking for some kind of payment before viewing, then it will also be a scam. Please forward the mail to me at the address in my signature line and I will investigate and list them if necessary.
