Room for Rent and other rental scams

I was too trusting of people using "Craigslist." The only contact I have for the scammer who took my deposit for a vacation rental is the Craigslist posting and a hidden e-mail account for "Affordable Homes." Western Union cannot investigate because I did not get a phone number for the receiver. I have filed a complaint with my state's Attorney General, and have notified Craigslist and the Federal Trade Commission. I will read other postings to see if there is more I can do. How often do gullible people like me get their money back?

Hello cbbarnecut and welcome to Scamwarners.com

Kindly post the complete suspicious e-mail that you have mentioned for other people to find when searching for similar details. - Just be sure to remove your own details before submitting.

_ Western Union and MoneyGram transactions are intended only for transactions between yourself and people that you personally know, trust and have met before. The transaction details should never be disclosed to a third party.

Despite what a Scammer might tell you, Western Union and MoneyGram Transfers can be picked up virtually anywhere in the world and with a minimum of identification, or even none at all. They are almost impossible to trace once the money has been collected.
