Hi Michelle,
Glad to read from you soon. I really appreciate your interest in my room, I am renting out two rooms in my three bedroom flat to serious and trustworthy individuals. As I just traveled for a research to Manila, Philippines. I will be back soon to continue my job and join you in the flat as the third room is my bedroom. I have my key deposited at the DHL office as my lawyer advised, so that you can easily get the key with the DHL reference number and move in. I would have love you to meet an agent, but my lawyer has advised me to handle my flat myself for safety reasons. I might not know you but i believe you are not bad person. I know you will enjoy your stay in my flat.

I hope to read from you soon.

Best regards,
Michelle

The thief will tell you that you can rent his accommodation only if you can prove that you have genuine interest. He will ask you send money by a Money Transfer Service to yourself or a member of the family to show that you have sufficient finances and that you are not a "time waster".

Another variation of this scam is that you need to send money in order that the keys and other documents can be couriered to you

He will ask you to send him the transfer details.

Make no mistake ! These transfers can be picked up virtually anywhere in the world and with the minimum of identification. They are almost impossible to trace once the money has been collected. You will never get to see the accommodation or your money again.

If you are reading this because you are looking for property to rent, and you are in contact with this thief you are probably searching Gumtree or similar listing sites. If you receive any requests from 'Landlords' asking for some kind of payment by Western Union or other Money Transfer Services before viewing, then it will also be a scam. Please forward the mail to me at the address in my signature line and I will investigate and list them if necessary.

Hi Michelle

Thanks for the confirmation on this; despite it looking obvious, it's always good to find proof of it.
I've recently come across a couple of other similar ads, notably in gumtree.
The address' are below, I'm as yet waiting to hear back from one and although I'd love to live in hope, my gut is telling me it's too good to be true.
Perhaps you can shed some light on them!
