This person asks for a deposit payment via Western Union, MoneyGram or bank transfer with a promise that you can have the keys to a property that does not belong to him.

Sounds safe. It's not!

At other times, he will ask for proof that you are able to pay the deposit and rent due to a string of time wasters.
This proof is in the form of a Western Union or MoneyGram payment to a lawyer,a friend or family member.

In either case, if payment is made and you give this person the details, they will collect the money.
You will not hear from them again.

All the details such as names, addresses, pictures etc. that the scammer uses in order to back up his story, are stolen from elsewhere.

If you are reading this because you are looking for property to rent, and you are in contact with this thief you are probably searching Craigslist, Gumtree or similar listing sites. If you receive any requests from 'Landlords' asking for some kind of payment before viewing, then it will also be a scam. Please forward the mail to me at the address in my signature line and I will investigate and list them if necessary.

Yes council tax is inclusive in the rent, So,i would like to tell you that i have lots of offer at hand but you are really show interest in my apartment and i may have to make my decision soon...I also like to let you know that you are doing the best thing by looking for accommodation before moving in.Because a lot of people come everyday and they end up having nowhere to stay because they fail to seek for themselves accommodation.So i will advice you to book down the unit in form of reservation..

I received the contract from my solicitor this afternoon and i have attached it to this email. Kindly print it and bring it along with you on your arrival date to my flat. However, you will need to proceed with the reservation deposit of 1 month rent of £440 and a security deposit of £500 which is returnable.

Furthermore, you will need to transfer the reservation deposit through my business account and after the transfer, you'll get back to me with a scan copy of the transfer receipt.As soon as your payment is confirm,I'll send the key of the flat,acknowledgment receipt that you have made the payment and as well prepare the utility papers so i can have them sent to you through DHL next day delivery to current address...you know you have to bring them along while you are coming so i can check you in.
