Hello,

Thanks for your interest, i bought this apartment for my son during he’s studies, but now he’s back home in London UK permanently, so i’m renting the place for unlimited time. Before we go any further i would like to know something about you, like how many persons you intend to live in the apartment, what is your job, how old are you and for how long you will stay. The flat is exactly like in the pictures, fully furnished equipped and renovated. Also, very important, the utilities water, electricity, heating, gas, Internet, cable, dishwasher, garbage disposal, are included in the price of 450 euro per month and i believe it is convenient for both of us. All the bills will be paid by me and you have to pay only the money for the rent in every month. The security deposit is also 450 euro, and you get it back, when you decide to leave the apartment ( you will have to give me at least 1 month notice ). You can use my furniture, or you can also use your own if you prefer. I’m a Neuro-Oncology doctor from London – United Kingdom . I can make arrangements to rent the apartment from here fast and easy . I look forward to hear from you soon.

Best Regards,

Hello Michelle

Thanks for your reply

That sounds great !

You seem to be a very nice person and I can assure you we will not have any problems. The thing is that I’m in United Kingdom already. Like I have inform you before, the price you shall pay for one month of rent will be 450 euro, with no extra taxes to pay. The money, I want to revive it monthly to my bank account, so I hope it will be no problem for you to wire the money to my bank account. The apartment is ready for you, you will need only to receive the keys and the contract to check it, and see if you like it.
Obviously we need a way to complete this deal, that will allow us to make sure we receive what we are after. In order of that I have found a way for us to complete the deal safely and fast, and in this way you will receive the Keys in less than 3 days, if you move fast as well. The solution is provided by a company called TNT which is similar to FedEx, DHL or UPS, which will handle both payment and delivery of the Keys.
I have found a procedure that will allow you to pay for the rent of the apt only after you will receive the keys of it and through this way you will see it and decide if you will stay in the apt or not before I receive my payment. Please click on the link bellow to the TNT website to see how we can complete the deal safely and fast directly from the website of the company where the procedure is explained: http://www.tnt.com/express/en_gb/site/h ... ivery.html

Let me know if you are interested please because I really need to take care of this matter by the end of this week or the beginning of the next one.

Hello,

I want to tell you that if you are ready to proceed with this transaction I will need to inform you the steps about how this service works.
Like I said, I will pay for a 3 days delivery so you will receive the Keys and the contract signed by me right away. I will explain to you step by step how this will work:
1 - To start this transaction i will need to know your full shipping information, full name, full shipping address to proceed with this deal .
2 - I go to the TNT Office and leave the Keys and the contract in your name as the intended receiver.
3 - TNT will check the envelope to see if everything is OK with it and also the legal papers that will come along with the Keys.
4 - TNT will send you a delivery notification to let you know they have the Keys and the papers in their custody, in which you will be told that they have the Keys and that they checked it.
5 - At this point you will have to go to your Bank Location and make a money transfer to the bank account of TNT Representative for the amount we agreed, the total amount you shall deposit is 900 euro ( 1 month of rent and security deposit )
6 - After you make the deposit you will have to send the infos about the money deposit to TNT.
7 - TNT will verify the payment informations and if everything is in order they will deliver the Keys and the contract to you .
8 - After you receive the package, You will go and check the apartment and in 3 days you must contact them and tell them if you keep the apartment or not, if everything is in order you will instruct TNT to release the funds to me.
If you don't like the apt they will send your money back and you will send them the keys and the contract to them to return the package back to me on my expense.

I will pay TNT Service for the shipping.

Now i must know for sure if you agree because here are a lot of peoples interested to have this apartment rented and i want to know for sure what i must tell them. If you agree what i suggested i will tell them that my apartment is already rented and i will keep it for you. If you agree then i must have all the shipping details so i will be able to make all the arrangements for the TNT delivery.

Thank you for your interest and wait news from you.

This person asks for a deposit payment via Western Union or MoneyGram to an escrow company with a promise that he will send the keys through a courier company.

Sounds safe. It's not!
The emails claiming to be from the company are fake.

At other times, he will ask for proof that you are able to pay the deposit and rent due to a string of time wasters.
This proof is in the form of a Western Union or MoneyGram payment to a lawyer,a friend or family member.

In either case, if payment is made and you give this person the details, they will collect the money.
You will not hear from them again.

All the details such as names, addresses, pictures etc. that the scammer uses in order to back up his story, are stolen from elsewhere.

If you are reading this because you are looking for property to rent, and you are in contact with this thief you are probably searching Craigslist, Gumtree or similar listing sites. If you receive any requests from 'Landlords' asking for some kind of payment before viewing, then it will also be a scam. Please forward the mail to me at the address in my signature line and I will investigate and list them if necessary.

Hello!

I like to confirm that this person is indeed a scammer, don't do any business with him! Before i would do any further business with him i wanted a confirmation via skype or some such like that, since i didn't got a repsonse from that in his e-mails i googled his name and found this site. So i've only got to the point that he's got my homeadress, but luckily I didn't make any payment yet. So so far so good.
I recieved exactly the same e-mails, only some tiny details we're different, for example in my e-mails it was his daughter who returned from her studies instead of his son. I'm Dutch, so I found him on a Dutch site for renting places for students. Below you can read the e-mails that i've recieved. In my contact with him he uses the same name, but this time another e-mail adress, which is: [email protected]

First:

Hello,

First of all I'm sorry to write you in English but i don't speak Dutch. I just read your e-mail regarding my apartment located in : Vrolikstraat 347, 1092 TB Amsterdam. It has 1 bedroom, 1 bathroom, 1 kitchen and 1 living room. I bought this apartment for my daughter during her studies in The Netherlands, but now she's back home (London/UK) permanently, so I'm renting the place for unlimited time.
Before we go any further I would like to know a little something about you, like how many persons you intend to live in the apartment, and for how long.
The flat is exactly like in the pictures, fully furnished and renovated. Also, very important, the utilities (cold/hot water, electricity, wireless broadband Internet, digital TV, dishwasher, garbage disposal, microwave, refrigerator, washing machine, etc.) are included in the price of 400 euro/month. Security deposit is 600 euro, and you get it back, when you decide to leave the apartment (you will have to give me at least 30 days notice). As for me, you can rest assured that I will never ask you to leave the apartment. My daughter is building her life here, and i am too old to move to The Netherlands , so we won't disturb you.
You can use my furniture, or you can also use your own if you prefer. If you decide to use yours, you will have access to a very large and well ventilated cellar, where you can store my furniture.
Now, a little bit about myself so we can get to know each other better. My name is Trevor Lowery and I'm a 58 years old graphic designer from London, planning to retire in the next 2 years.
The only inconvenience is that my job d oesn't allow me to leave London even for one single day. We just hired some new staff and I'm in charge of their training.
But this won't affect you at all. I can make arrangements to rent the apartment from UK (on my expense of course).

Looking forward to hear from you soon.

Cordialement,
Trevor

Second:

Hi Maaike,

Thank you for your prompt response and for your kind email. If you are still interested I agree to rent it to you. I promise you that you will love the place. You seem to be a nice person and I can assure you we will not have any problems.
Obviously you will have to see the apartment before discussing further details because you cannot rent an apartment that you haven't seen. I am willing to send you the keys so you can visit it and see it suits your needs.
The delivery for the keys (apartment keys, interphone, alarm) and viewing permit (signed by me), will be made through an authorized courier and using a Moneybookers Escrow Account to make sure that we can trust each other.
Using Moneybookers escrow account involves three parties: me as owner, you as a potential tenant and Moneybookers as a responsible third party authorized to proper conduct of the transaction. Please click on the link to the Moneybookers website where you can find the procedure explained : https://www.moneybookers.com/app/help.pl?s=escrow&l=EN

Here is the procedure explained :

The Escrow Account Moneybookers works the same way as the escrow account on which you place the deposit when you rent an apartment, except that instead of a bank, we use Moneybookers. Of course, nobody can touch that money until you have not returned the keys.
The escrow deposit, the first month's rent + rental guarantee (400 + 600 = 1000 Euro), must be filed by bank transfer to activate the escrow account.
The delivery will be by a licensed company such as DHL, Federal Express or UPS and it will be sent by Moneybookers at your home.
To initiate the process, I need the following information about you:
-Shipping Address (address where you want the package to be delivered) and name of recipient;
-Delivery Schedule (local time you'll be at home to receive the package and sign the receipt);
-Phone number;
You don't need to open an account with moneybookers because this transaction is a rental and the Landlord must open the transaction, just send me your personal details and i will open a case with them immediately.
Then Moneybookers sends you the keys and the contract already filled with your details; You will have 14 days to inspect apartment since the arrival date; If you want to keep the apartment, they give me the money, and we go on from there; If you do not keep the apartment, you send the keys/contract back to Moneybookers and you get your money back.
This will be in writing in the moneybookers contract I will sign.
The MoneyBookers fees will be paid by me when I will initiate the procedure, you will have to pay for the money transfer fees when you pay the deposit.
If you agree to move forward I can send you a copy of the rental contract in blank.
I'll wait your quick reply and if you agree, I will need your full name, shipping address and your phone number (mobile if possible) so I can initiate the moneybookers rental transaction.
Thanks again for your time and look forward to hear from you soon.

Sincerely,

Third:

Hi Maaike,

I have sent your information to Moneybookers and I just received the confirmation from them that you already received the payment invoice. You should receive an email from them with the instructions of what you have to do and how. Also the deposit must be confirmed in 2 working days because other way I have to open another case with moneybookers and I must pay for every case.
The courier will be DHL and the package will be delivered at the address provided. Of course, you will receive a call 2 hours ahead before the package arrives.
One more thing: In the package there are 2 keys : a large keys with plastic cover for the door and a remote for the alarm.
The remote has 2 buttons (on/off) so before you insert the keys please press off to de-activate the alarm because if you insert the key before you will activate the alarm.
And please make sure that you don't leave anything on like electricity, water, etc.. I want you to treat the flat like your own home.
I will not bother you with anything for the entire duration of your stay as long as you pay the rent in time.
All this of course if you like the apartment :)
Just check your e-mail. As soon the deposit is made and verified you will receive the keys in 4-6 working days.

All that you have to do is follow the instructions from the payment invoice and we will not have any problems. It is very simple don't worry.

Regards,

PS: Check your Junk/Spam folder too because one of the emails I received from Moneybookers arrived there.

So again don't do any business with this guy!
